Yeah I know, I was being sarcastic cause cmeese47 was talking smack on the 360 and acting like KZ3 did something amazing, when in reality 500k for an opening week isn't close to epic for a hyped exclusive.  It doesn't matter to me who sells the most systems/games, I have a 360 and a ps3, but if a person is going to talk smack like that it should be for something actually worth bragging about.

Perhaps piracy is starting to hurt PS3 software sales, not? Let's wait for Uncharted 3 and Infamous 2 to deny that hypothesis.

So bundling KZ3 for free with the 160GB PS3 in the US helped a bit then. That might've led quite a few people to choose KZ3 over Bulletstorm if they didn't have a ps3 before. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/02/15/new-ps3-160gb-killzone-3-bundle-available-february-22nd/

Piracy definitely cuts into sales since most people prefer a free game to paying $60 dollars.  I don't even buy games brand new that often, I just wait for the price to go down or find it on ebay.

My biggest surprise is that 3DS sold more HW than SW. What did 30k Japanese buy it for? Watching its case? This must be the last nail on the coffin of Malstrom theories    Still strange, because it nails one of his that actually made sense...

PS3 Bulletstorm numbers amply demonstrate the idiocy of releasing a new FPS IP against KZ3. What was EA thinking? I get this horrible feeling that there was something intentional in sending Bulletstorm out to die on PS3. Its probably due to the fact that there are a lot more multiconsole hardcore owners these days and anyone with both the Xbox 360 and PS3 would get the 360 version due to the Gears 3 beta. Bulletstorm is a hardcore game so that supports the idea that the hardcore audience would get the best platform. It wasn't Killzone 3 which ate Bulletstorms sales as much as it was Bulletstorn 360 version.

Maybe, but Dead Space 2 including Dead space extraction did not cause higher sales for the PS3.   I do not care for gears online , I only like the campaign. So when I pick up Bulletstorm I wiill still buy it for PS3.

Hardly anyone had Move at the time. That hardly makes it a compelling reason to get it on PS3 over Xbox 360.

Also just to show why your arguement is not full proof, I could also say more people bought KZ3 because it comes with early access to the socom 4 beta. I know gears is more popular than socom, but I still think you are exagerating the effect of the Gears beta. Attributing significant increases in  sales of a game to a beta does not seem to significant unless it is Halo 3: ODST because at least that game actually was a Halo game.

i was expecting roughly the same or higher number of sales than killzone 2. Not too bad though
