killzone 3 raped bulletstorm(ps3) sales

Bulletstorm is a new IP. Did you expected it to outsell KZ3 which has more hype and selling power. Bulletstorm sales should be higher in U.S. Anyone play KZ3 in 3D yet?

lol wut! i said killzone raped bulletstorms ps3 sales meaning killzone stole sales from bulletstorm on ps3 nothing i said even implied bulletstorm outselling killzone

Oh, I thought you were talking about the sales, since you included the word "SALES". Since the PS3 doesn't include the Gears 3 beta invite, i doubt KZ3 took many sales away from Bulletstorm on the PS3. KZ3 was going to get it's normal sales anyways.

KZ3 sales are actually low compared to other FPS exclusives that come out. What you want to compare KZ3 sales raping figures to is Gears 3 and Resistance 3 when they come out later this year. Not a new IP that's multiplat.

lol we're going round in circles, listen im not comparing sales if i was i would have said killzone 3 raped bulletstorm(ps3) in sales, im just saying killzone 3 stole bulletstorm sales on ps3

Killzone 3 indeed cannabilized sales of Bulletstorm on PS3, and pretty badly judging by the ratio split.  Most multi-titles FPS have a closer ratio than that.  I have a notion a lot of PS3 FPS fans are probably negative to Epic too, although I could be wrong on that.  Whatever, the result is clear.

EA should really have avoided KZ3 by a couple of weeks.  They've just flushed a bunch of sales away.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Seems like EMEAA is the official PS3 territory this year.

A little bit disappointed in Killzone 3's first week sales, I gotta admit but I still think it can pull off some decent lifetime sales.

XBox 360 has hit the 20 mill point in EMEEA.

I thought KZ3 would open roughly on par or a little below KZ2.  KZ2 ended up with a reputation for being divisive due to its controls and KZ3 arrived somewhat muted I thought.  It also seemed to get more focus around Move/3D than gameplay and improvements over KZ2 in general marketing, which I don't think helped it much.

Personally I think they should have focused marketing on KZ3 being a better game (I mean whether it is or not is a matter of opinion, but from a marketing perspective that was the message they should have been focused on getting out) and positioning Move/3D more as nice extras.

Instead, the general message I felt was that KZ3 was basically more of the same with improved graphics but now it supports MOVE and 3D.  That's not strong enough to bring in new people.

Yeah, the general tone set seemed to be that of a Killzone 2 with more advanced kill strike animations and a jetpack. Hardly compelling reasons to buy it. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed Killzone 2 a great deal and it is certainly among the best consoles FPS games I've played but sequels should really offer quite a bit more. This is what I loved about Half-Life 2 and the episodes. The environments, pacing and storytelling varied among the different bits even though the mechanics themselves remained fairly similar (the mine shooting buggy was cool in Episode 2 though) and this is absolutely essential for creating a different experience and keep from going stale.

Of course, where entirely new installments are concerned, they might as well adjust the mechanics as well. Episodic content is different in that regard.

I will get my hands on Killzone 3 some day but I think I'll wait for the Platinum release from what I've seen.

It was obvious the PS3 would get a boost due to KZ3 bundles. Same thing would happen if Gears 3 or another Halo game was released bundled on the 360. So, no real surprise here. Still the 3DS is in the #1 spot if VGC decides to actually post the figures. It was released on 2/26 and should be included in these numbers, either with the DS or by itself. Won't matter as it outsold every other hardwarelast week.

I'm actually curious as to what would have happened if Nintendo had launched 1 million 3DS in Japan. Do you think they would still sell out in 24hrs?

I wouldn't imagine so... they didn't sell out on their initial 400,000 shipment, so shipping 1,000,000 would probably have yielded the same or similar results.
