I thought KZ3 would open roughly on par or a little below KZ2. KZ2 ended up with a reputation for being divisive due to its controls and KZ3 arrived somewhat muted I thought. It also seemed to get more focus around Move/3D than gameplay and improvements over KZ2 in general marketing, which I don't think helped it much.
Personally I think they should have focused marketing on KZ3 being a better game (I mean whether it is or not is a matter of opinion, but from a marketing perspective that was the message they should have been focused on getting out) and positioning Move/3D more as nice extras.
Instead, the general message I felt was that KZ3 was basically more of the same with improved graphics but now it supports MOVE and 3D. That's not strong enough to bring in new people.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
