In Poland.....Fair amount of Wii's, xbox's and a crap load of PS3's. Goes to show that my country is not much of a gaming mecca :P.

What is the average GDP per capita (adjusted for Purchasing power parity) of Poland?

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Hmmm... I don't want to jump to any far-ranging conclusions, given that this is all anectodal evidence. Still, if retailers are carrying very high amounts of PS3 inventory, that could have significant effects in the first quarter of 2008. Remember, Sony is still on record as selling (to retailers) 11m PS3s in their current fiscal year, which ends in March. If retailers are overloaded with inventory, that's going to limit the potential for channel-stuffing to make the fiscal numbers look better. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I was thinking the same thing. If retailers still have massive quantities of product in January, the likelihood of them ordering more in Q1(Jan-Mar) is very low. And if they have to run deep discounts to clear them, they will be hesitant to restock quickly.

I expect Nintendo's retailer sales to blow Sony and MS out of the water for Q108(Jan-Mar). Nintendo will still be in demand plus the retailers need to restock.

I generally agree... but if retailers are ordering a lot more than they can sell - Sony's shipment figure for this qrt might be significantly higher than their sell through.

Guess it will balance out next qrt either way - but it could help them significantly re: their fiscal target.

I've visited three big stores (2x Media Markt, 1x Saturn) in Wrocław (600k citizens) and there was 1 (one) PS3... Maybe I've somehow overlooked dedicated stand but... it's pretty unlikely. Probably it was just before Christmas restock. I dunno. BTW Microsoft is doing great work. X360 is everywhere and takes the most space in Empik's, Saturn's, MM and other chain stores. Wii is easy to pick up too - here in MM they put it in pretty bulky containers. I'd say around 20 pcs per stand.

I was at a local Best Buy in Albuquerque, New Mexico and saw like 36 Premiums, 20 Elites, 10-15 Halo 3 edition 360s and like 40 Arcade 360s. The PS3 stack? 64-70 of both of the 40gb and the 80gb. No Wiis - just one on display.

I also did my personal retail observations today, during my Christmas shopping. I live in the province of Quebec.

First, I went to a local Future Shop. I didn't count, but the stack of 360s was twice as big as the stack of PS3s. There was no Wii in sight. I also didn't saw any DS, altough the boxes are small and maybe I missed them.

The software sections of PS3, 360 and Wii are about the same size. The PC games section was twice as big, tough. The DS and PSP software sections were about the same size. The PS2 software section was really small, but there was tons of PS2 games in bargain bins.

At least 90% of the buyers I saw were dads and moms. There were people buying all consoles, but the Wii section was much more crowded.

Next, I went to Wal-Mart. The PS2 section there was much bigger. They also still had Gameboy Advance and Gamecube games for some reason. The 360 software section was big, while the PS3 software section was small.

There was only a few consoles behind the glass. In the 2 minutes or so I stayed there, I saw a mom buying a PS3. There was several DS, but no Wii.

Then I went to EB games. As they deal a lot with used games, the PS2 section was huge. DS, PS3 and PSP sections were small. 360 and Wii were average sized. I didn't saw any console. I think they were hidden somewhere.
