Forums - Nintendo - Recommend me a Pokemon game for DS ;)

Heya guys.

I'm, as some of you may know, not the biggest fan of Pokemon in this world. Still, I can't help but be attracted by its crazy popularity, and as I've been TERRIBLY missing out on lots of DS games, I think that a Pokemon game is something I could add to my collection to beef it up a bit and give the DS its deserved honors. Problem is, I don't know where to start. I've been thinking HeartGold/SoulSilver since they are remakes of the classics that were made during the time I was watching the show, but I don't want to shell out money with better games out there.

 Help me out please :D

Luckily, I don't remember it. How's the game in general?

Get BW, I'd suggest. I'm guessing you're only talking about main games and not spin-offs.

I guess i am, but I don't know a lot about Pokemon so I can't really differentiate. No HG/SS love? I was kinda hoping people would recommend it. I love the early shows.

HGSS was alright, but I guess I found it terribly bring because I'd played the hell out of the originals till they weren't worth playing anymore. Since you haven't played them, you could go for HGSS. They do have more features than DPP. And, yeah, the show's fun, :D.

With BW coming, though, I don't see why you shouldn't go for them instead.

I was gonna suggest the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games since they've beaten out the mainline Pokemon games for my favourite series, but they're more oriented towards story and probably wouldn't appeal to you if you aren't already submerged in the Pokemon universe.

I don't find the idea of too much Pokemon too appealing. I like it classic. Then possibly I'll get B/W if I get into the games.

Well, BW will actually have fewer Pokemon than HGSS through the storyline, :P.

Your choice, though. HGSS has a lot of fun aspects and may actually be better since you're just starting off.
