I m not sure that DMC4 will sell better on PS3 ...
remember there +100% more user baser for the xbox360 (16M vs 8M)

Again, MANY on this SITE predicted 6,5-7 mln. For PS3.
BUT, PS3 will sell 8,5 mln. by the end of 2007.
Just DO NOT understimate power of PS.

Still, IF DMC4 will do better, then we can expect, that GAT4 will aslo do better WW, mostly thnx to EU.

It will be 9M vs 17M.

Given the user demographics, game genre and the difference in hardware penetration, it is unlikely (at best) that the PS3 version will outsell the X360 version.  As others have stated, the Japanese market may make this more of a reality, but given attach rates there in comparison to other markets, I would suspect not.

GTA4, well, if I had a choice, I would buy it on the system that offered future content (360) so long as the other aspects of the original game were more or less equal.

Finally, the assertion that ALL PS2 users will magically migrate to PS3 (eventually if at all) is flawed at best.  When someone is looking to "make the jump" - especially given that backward compatibility is no longer a given, what (beyond brand name) should convince me, as a PS2 user, to switch to PS3 over X360?  They are both fine systems afterall...

For the record, I do own a PS3, AND any similarity between my handle and that of the OP is unintentional. 

DMC was awesome, DMC2 sucked total balls and was a HUGE letdown, and DMC3 edges out DMC1 slightly, due to more moves and weapons and stuff. I am seriously getting this game on day 1, I've already seen enough of the trailers to know it's very similar to 3, which I am extremely good at. I hope the multi-cancels still work.

DOUBLE EDIT-Also, I am one of the ones that did migrate from PS2 to PS3, mostly because I didn't pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a huge stack of games that I won't ever de able to play anymore. So now I can pay them on PS3. Incidentally, I'm playing Castlevania Symphony of the night right now, again, having downloaded it, and guess what? I uploaded my original PS1 memory card data onto the PS3, and it works with the downloaded game. 

Actually, I too migrated up (and hunted down a 60 GB for maximum compatibility no less), BUT not everyone will be in similar situations nor have similar tastes.  After all, BC was important to me, and several of the PS2 games I have are buggy with the 80 GB (as per the Sony website).

Were I to be on the market for either the 360 elite or the 40 GB PS3... well, it would be a close call because, either way, my PS2 library is unplayable on the new system and the 360 has a more mature (developed) library.  THAT is what I meant.

 Sony obviously doesn't consider BC as critical as it once did, though,  and to be honest had I not found a 60 GB model, I would not own a PS3 now because I would have waited until the 80 GB model hit $349 to buy.

Plus, I still contend that the 360's lead in North America will make it a formitable seller of both DMC4 and GTA4.

 You do realized that Sony continued to support the PS1 long after the PS2 launched. You do also realize that the PS2 had no problem outselling its competitors while Sony continued its PS1 support. The real issues is Sony screwed up with the PS3. They misread the market and thought that they could slap the Playstation brand name on any product at any price and the public would eat it up. They were wrong and they are still paying for that "miscalculation."

I'll be getting DMC4 on my ps3 instead of 360...it was MEANT to be played on a Playstation.  But, I may not get it at launch because of Lost Odyssey coming out around the same time.

I predict DMC4 will flop like nothing else. I have been incredibly unimpressed with everything I have seen for the game.

The only thing to help this game, is that its on both the 360/PS3. And it might be a sort of "dry" period when it hits (well, not for Wii gamers).
