The motion generation seems pretty fitting to me.

What name would you give the 7th generation? | |||
| Wii | 35 | 38.89% | |
| PS3 | 10 | 11.11% | |
| X360 | 3 | 3.33% | |
| HD (PS360) | 42 | 46.67% | |

Dumbed down generation - every developer tries to makes his game as accessible to the masses as possible often with bad effects for genre fans.

If I were a more blunt sort, I'd probably say the same. This is pretty much how I feel about this generation.
Wii era easily, don't try and kid yourself anythings been bigger than it this gen even if you combine HD console sales ...

Seece if you combine the touch generation wouldn't it be possible to say Nintendo Revival Era? Personally I like the interactive era or motion era better, since both Nintendo and Microsoft have made huge strides in those markets. In fact I think interactive era would be best, with DS/Wii being the market leader, and 360 being second.

The DLC generation?
Nickel and dime generation?
Perhaps DRM generation?
Somebody said 'dumbed down generation', I'm leaning toward that in some cases too.

It's not even a question of motion, just of how we interface with our games altogether: better integration of online content for adding meat to a game and creating varying ways other players' experience can complement your own, all of this stuff was mostly experimental: motion, camera detection, and complex online gaming beyond the pale of simple mutliplayer

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
