Spirit Tracks had much stronger character, music, and writing than the somewhat-sterile Phantom Hourglass, and it also did away with a lot of the more tedious elements like having to revisit the same dungeon over and over again. I will say that neither PH or ST are particularly high on my "best Zeldas" list, since PH was missing a lot of the charm, and ST had some really frustrating sections that brought the fun to a standstill.

Both games have there flaws but I like them both equally. I prefered sailing around in Phantom Hourglass, but I really liked teaming up with Zelda in Spirit Tracks to solve puzzles and fight off enemies.

See, i enjoyed the Ocean temple because it was almost Metroidian in its design: sure you had to repeat it, but each repitition was with tools that made the trip all the easier

That said, i found Spirit Tracks' tag-team system more compelling overall, and the game kicked six degrees of characterization ass when it came to Zelda herself.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I own both, but have only played Phantom Hourglass. I gave up on it after hitting the Temple of the Ocean King for like the fourth time. It does eventually let you skip the first half of it, but it got so monotonous to me that I just couldn't handle it anymore. I haven't started Spirit Tracks yet, but that's just because I don't think it feels right since I haven't finished Phantom Hourglass. That said, I feel like Spirit Tracks can only be an improvement.

Fire up Spirit Tracks. It also has a dungeon you revisit, but you never go through any floor more than once so it's a lot more tolerable.

Also the music is worlds better.

Edit: Also the graphics are better, the puzzles are better, the bosses are better, the writing is better

It's just better in pretty much every way and I apologize not at all for saying so.

I'm not going to be missing anything vital for not finishing Phantom Hourglass, am I? I'll stomach it if I have to, but if there's nothing extremely important at the end of Phantom Hourglass, then I suppose I shall.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Really? Everyone likes Spirit Tracks more? I'm a bit surprised....

I myself prefer Spririt Tracks, though tbh neither are near the pinnacle of the Zelda series

Spirit Tracks was definitely the better game.

I love the music on Spirit Tracks - the overworld theme when you're on the train really gives a sense of adventure, wonder and space. And catching the damn bunnies was a real nightmare but addictive! Loved Spirit Tracks

The ending of Phantom Hourglass is not important for Spirit Tracks, no. Not at all. Ending of Wind Waker, maybe a little, but you already know how that goes just from starting PH.

I greatly prefer Phantom Hourglass to Spirit Tracks. The only thing I liked better about Spirit Tracks than Phantom Hourglass was the music, which was great. But I absolutely hated the train. I found the boat to be much more enjoyable. I also actually really like the Ocean King Temple in Phantom Hourglass. I know some people don't like repition but I found I enjoyed finding out how things could be done differently with new equipment.

I also really hated playing the instrument through the mic in Spirit Tracks. I thought it was a cool concept, but it just did not work for me.
