Forums - Gaming - realism vs unrealism in games

Unrealism. If Wind Waker was the same game with realistic graphics, I think I would have vomitted.

Realism for FPS games like COD etc, I am still hatin' on the developers for not adding Physics into the game though, the bullets are not affected by gravity, and that pisses me off!

TPS I like Sci Fi games, so GoW2 and ME2 fall into that category perfectly. In general I'd say that if the graphics are awesome and the gameplay is trully something special, then I am game for it. I like open world RPG's and I like games like Assassin's Creed. I am not really a fan of JRPG games where it's always about saving the world and anime girls with massive tits - I guess that can be classed as unrealism.

Let's just settle with this - I like realistic games that sometimes contain unrealistic scenarios - so fiction. And non fiction ones too :p

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Unrealism allows for greater freedom in development and gameplay.

I like my games more realistic.

agreed. i wouldn't want to be controlling a character that looked like this:

Let's be honest, Zillion II would not have survived realistic boundaries. Most of my favourite games tell me I should pick unrealism

compared to realistic ones i.e. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal Of Honor

Realistic = Like REAL life

knowing that, there is nothing realistic about any of those games you mentioned

Arma 2, America's Army, Operation Flash Point 1, <--- realistic.

just because a game is set in modern times using mondern weapons doesn't make them realistic at all.

that's like Gran Turismo, GTR2, Live for Speed, Forza (to a certain extent), are realistic

Need for Speed, Burnout, Test Drive aren't.

now me I perfer both, If I'm playing a realistic game I expect it to be realistic and I'll have lots of fun enjoying that, same for unrealistic games that I play.

no one version should ever be chosen over the other, that's how you destroy variety (much like this gen becasue everyone thinks Battlefield, MoH, and the worst offender of them all COD is at all realistic) fun as hell no doubt about it, but in NO way realistic.
