Last week 360 outsold Wii by 60,991 so at this rate it would take it 166 weeks (or just over 3 years) to catch it up.

I don't think the Wii is gonna get back above the 360 in the americas again and I also think it'll outsell the Wii in the holidays (yes I really do).

I also expect Nintendo to announce the Wiis successor very soon, whereas Microsoft and Sony will want this gen to last as long as possible so I dont think its out of the question for 360 to have at least another 2 strong years on the market.

So what do you think? Can it do it or will the Wii hold on?


The xbox does not have even the slightest chance to do that.

And holidays ... look at the last holidays the Wii outsold PS3 and Xbox360 by a big amount.

By the way: We will see the Wii2, Xbox720 and PS4 all in 2012. And the Xbox360 will be immediately dead by then, just like the xbox 1.

Based on the simple fact that I believe the 360 and for that matter the PS3 will be around for a few years to come and the Wii will be replaced with a new model I say yes highly probable.

I doubt it because the Wii continues to have monster sales during the holidays. Chances are good they will doing another price cut this year as well.

UPDATE:

As of July 3th the Wii lead is now down to 9,003,113

With the news of WiiU, a pretty ineffective Wii price drop and the 360 looking to become America's legacy system I think it's now even more likely that the 360 will one day become the top selling system of this gen in America!

It's hard to say as it appears the Wii has gotten another price cut after the first didn't increase sales as much as expected.

A couple of weeks ago, one Seb Parker wrote an op-ed, right here on our very own VGC, pretty much arguing in favor of such a claim. Most posters 'kindly' asked him to go take a dive.

360 outsell Wii this holidays? Sorry, but this just won't happen.
