Forums - General - Foreign music artists

So yeah, I am Russian by descent but was never really into Russian artists until a few years ago when I watched a few films and liked some of the songs. I mainly like english speaking bands, so realizing that Russia did actually have some decent artists that I did not like before came as a great surprise. Anyhow, I also really liked Rammstein for a few years now, despite not speaking much German, I really love the music that they make and the words that I do understand make the songs quite interesting to me(Especially after reading the lyrics, Ich Will in particular!).

I've also watched some of Remi's videos and liked the French music on there too, anyhow, anyone like foreign music that is not usually common in their home country?

Example of Rammstein;

Example of some Russian music that I am listening at the moment

^The translation is a bit pants at times.

Chances are this won't get much hits thanks to this being a gaming centric community(had me fooled there!).

Edit:

Also T.A.t.u can be counted as Russian I guess - y'know, those two pretend lesbians in school girl uniforms dancing in the rain?

Well, not going to count Japanese stuff here, I think it wouldn't be so unusual for the forums. German stuff I've liked, but it's mostly been because of some clever lyrics (Die Ärzte, Tocotronic).

I like those older Italian songs. And some French ones though I don't even know their artists/titles.

I'm not sure what do you mean by foreign, in my case almost everything I listen to is foreign and not very common (at least) in my country ... if you mean, singed in  not-english languages no, it's very unlikely. I know Rammstein (they are very famous btw); Arcturus, they sing both in english and norwegian, it's a prog/black metal, quite unique; Skalpel a Polish electronic-jazz formation but their music in instrumental, in general almost every artist I know are form North and South America or Europe so they are generally international and speak english.

That said, if I knew some good foreign artists I would have no poblem listening to them, in most cases I barely care about lyrics, I care the most about music.

By foreign I meant something outside of your country, so if you live in Germany or something, English would probably be foreign for you . I got to admit I started liking Rammstein even more once I read the lyrics translation!

ugh.. O-Zone.

Just watch the Eurovision song contest.

i like listening to songs in any other language, I learned one in Chinese and I know a couple of Norwegian ones.

Plus "con te partiró" is one of my favourites ever. And I've learned most of the lyrics to that one.

Music is a really good way to learn a language.

Living in Israel (and being Russian by identity as well as by blood), all the music I listen to is foreign... knowing Russian fluently also helps. Ah, and Rammstein is THE SHIT.

Tagged for later.

Oh my god Eurovision is so rigged it's unbelieveable haha! I've watched it the last few years and one of the most horrid acts tends to win even though some alright ones get ignored. You have to admit though, every year, without a fail, the UK entry sucks balls.
