I've been in a documentary phase for awhile since I got Netflix and I was thinking the other day that it would be pretty cool if there was one about Nintendo.  Nintendo has such a long history and has many fascinating people that work for them which could make for a very interesting documentary.  I feel there is a lot about Nintendo's past and present that many people don't know about (such as Nintendo running a taxi company).  I emailed Nintendo about it and this was the response I got back.

"Hello,

Thanks for contacting us.  Regarding your request that Nintendo make a documentary based on the company's history it's worth mentioning that Nintendo is not involved in the film industry.  Therefore, I haven't heard of any plans for an official documentary on Nintendo.  Of course, you never know what the future may hold, so keep your fingers crossed!"

Sincerely,

Alain Dao
Nintendo of America Inc.

I thought it was pretty funny that he said Nintendo wasn't involved in the film industry when they allowed Super Mario Bros. movie to be made back in 1993 (plus they have Super Mario Bros cartoons).  Maybe this time they could actually have a decent film about Nintendo instead of the not so great Super Mario Bros film.  Anyways, I wanted to know what you guys thought about this.  This could be a very interesting documentary if they jammed it full of interesting interviews with people such as Shigeru Miyamoto and had little facts/info that aren't even listed on the wiki-page.  Would you be interested in watching a documentary about Nintendo?

Kind of.

Yea, that was a pretty good documentary.  I think they had that on Netflix (probably still on instant view).  Those guys were pretty damn good with those games back in day (considering some of those games are insanely hard to even go a few levels let alone not die).

Just no. No one cares really about who they are, just about what they make.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Damn double posts!

I beg to differ.  I am sure plenty of long time Nintendo fans would appreciate such a documentary.  If you been gaming since the NES days (I started on Atari 2600) then it is quite possible that you have some attachment to Nintendo.  This company's past and present is far more interesting than almost any other company in existence.

I'd definitely watch something like that if it ever happened though. It would need full access though, not some half baked thing as you often get in such scenarios.

I would love a gamentary...

One game ala Kingdom Hearts in which connects to their history, articles, videos, etc.

Very much so, though i'd say it'd be better placed at Miyamoto's retirement or death (whichever comes first) to kind of bookend Nintendo's rise to prominence through the industry, though obviously it wouldn't only focus on his contributions (Yokoi-san, for the years he was involved, was yet more significant)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

That would be fantastic if they did so. I would watch it in a heartbeat.... :)
