Forums - Sales Discussion - Could Wii have 21 million sellers this year?

Even a month ago this seemed unlikely, but if you look a the current state of wii software sales you find:

1
Wii SportsNintendo22,8908.0515.14m
2
Wii PlayNintendo11,6706.887.57m
3
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight PrincessNintendo14,2578.614.14m
4

5

6

7

15
Metroid Prime 3: CorruptionNintendo31,7778.29

 0.94m

15 titles currently over 1 million (Or very close at least) and 5 third party titles also!

Now, considering these titles to be guaranteed million sellers:

22
Wii FitNintendo5,1397.840.52m
25
Link's Crossbow TrainingNintendo1,7467.860.49m

We are already at 17.

Now, there are a about six or seven games that have the potential to sell through, and could creep to a million  LTD (I am not claiming these titles have any chance this year, but looking at the bigger picture, it would be great if 21 games released in the Wii's first year reached that magical million barrier).

16
Sonic and the Secret RingsSega4,4747.750.79m
17
Pokemon Battle RevolutionNintendo4,0167.610.77m

29

30
High School Musical: Sing It!Disney4297.500.36m
38
Carnival GamesGlobal Star Software2,1487.190.32m

I realize there are 25 games there, but I do not expect all of these to reach the million mark (just trying to get include some other options to spur discussion).

First off, Sonic and the Secret rings.  Can it sell an additional 200k lifetime? I think so, given the popularity of Sonic in Europe, and the possible sales it may pick up as a result of Mario and Sonic and the eventual pricecut.  Look for more sales from this one in Europe, and it is currently tracking above the sonic GC games and rush (both  million plus) http://www.vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=All&game1=Sonic+and+the+Secret+Rings+-+Wii&reg2=All&game2=Sonic+Rush+-+DS&reg3=All&game3=Sonic+Adventure+2+Battle+-+GC&weeks=100

Others from this list I think wil make it will be Resident Evil, UC (as it is currently tracking above RE4 Wii and RedSteel, and will probably get a boost from those million plus zappers)

Carnival Games I believe will be a slow burner to a million, as it is already at 500k shipped and has shown no signs of slowing down in either the US or europe.  it will be a VERY slow crawl but I think it will get there (provided Take2 doesn't release a sequel to cannibalize sales).

Out of the rest of the list the only one I see making the million sold will be Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, as it is tracking currently above Red Steel and the original Rabbids, and will replace the Rabbids 1 sales that have continued along at a good clip for the last year.

I would argue that cooking mama may make it, but the release of the sequel will cannibalize sales.

Almost forgot:

4
Lego Star Wars: The Complete SagaLucasArts1,2328.000.23m

Tracking around the same numbers as the first two, which were million sellers (or very close) on the cube.  Also I believe the game may be slightly undertracked, as it sold 180k in November NPD alone.

http://www.vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=All&game1=Lego+Star+Wars+-+GC&reg2=All&game2=Lego+Star+Wars%3A+The+Complete+Saga+-+Wii&reg3=All&game3=Lego+Star+Wars+II%3A+The+Original+Trilogy+-+GC&weeks=100

So, that would make 22 Wii million sellers, with 9 third party games hiting the mark!  Impressive, but can it actually happen?

Any thoughts, Ideas?  (Sorry 360 and PS3 owners, I don't have either console)

Yes most likely we'll see 21 or more games that debuted this year hit over a million in sales. The more important number is 15, as it is actually a very good number for a system in it's first year.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Doubt Cooking Mama or Carnival Games can make 1m (I sure hope Carnival games doesn't) but I think My Sims will, and will be EA's first 1m seller on Wii.

Lego for sure, RE:UC, RRR2, S&SR should all hit 1m as well. Who says 3rd party titles can't sell on Wii?? Only those in denial.

Cooking Mama offically sold over 1 million a few weeks ago.

Wow so many bad games selling so well. Kinda reminds me of the days in the early 80's before the bubble burst with the industry and the Atari 2600 when the most of the software became so bad.

Libraries sell systems not individual games

@ maybe you would like to explain all this "bad games" business? What you actually find bad in that list?

@thread: quite possibly

Well how many of those games have 80% or better reviews on GameRankings.Com?
