^^^I hope so.  Again, I haven't played their other games.  I do know though that their other games are nothing like the genre that Other M was.  Well, whichever it was, Sakamoto or Team Ninja, I hope they stay off the next Metroid.

Nobody ever assumes that people learn from their mistakes. Project M was an excellent collaborative group that built an absolutely crackerjack engine for blending the two previous epochs of Metroid-dom (side-scrolling 2D and First Person), the problems with the game (which have been severely overblown by a dedicated hatebase), were large-scale things that could be easily adjusted in the future (hell, could have easily been adjusted: unlock a few doors, come up with a deus ex machina to explain how she lost her powers again so she has to get them back, and tone down her response to Ridley by 20%, and bam, no problems), which would be a natural response to the criticism.

So, so agreed.  I could kiss you. <3

Sweet.  Can't wait to find out what they're working on next.  Maybe it'll be a new IP.

This reminds me, I need to go back and play Metroid Prime.  I never managed to get through the first, so I never played the second or third.  Which is weird, because everything about the game should be right up my alley.

If you think those were what make people dislike the game, you are making a strawman.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

How so? The valid criticisms were linearity and lack of exploration, authorization and the burden it posed on willing suspension of disbelief, and Samus' characterization (which i maintain could have been perfected with just a few tweaks, though that runs counter to the people for whom she was a Terminator expy), and i say that those could be easily altered.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

That was not the way you put it before.

I rather think that it is, so i shall request specification on that. I'll grant my earlier statement was combative, but did not seek to create a strawman (unless my point against people who never assume that the same studio can do a game differently was to that end, though that point is quite true, in their rage against the game, the haterbase has furthered the idea that Sakamoto himself is ruinous to the franchise and cannot make a good Metroid game in spite of all logic otherwise)

I don't think Sakamoto cannot make a good Metroid game. But he shouldn't try to turn it into a movie. And even if he wanted to do a movie, he really needs to practice telling stories, because he really isn't good at it right now.
