I thought we were all in general agreement that we won't cite "Wii is doomed" until the holiday period where it is dramatically YoY.

...

Dramatically what YoY? Up?

Then I'd agree with you, Nintendo dropping the price, Zelda bundle and NSMBWii2 or something and it should easily be up YoY in the holidays...

Heck, it may remain flat YoY when all is said and done!!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I sorta guessed, but if they do what I've mentioned they may be able to keep it flat or up YoY

Yeah, so Wii doom postoned another year, but knowing the majority of members on these forums, there will no doubt be many more "wii is doomed" threads, even if it does have an amazing holiday season again. The only reason where I can see the "doom" justified is if Nintendo announces the succesor in which case an appropriate response would be "no shit sherlock"

It's safe to say that the Wii doom has been postponed indefinitely

Oh, and if I ever become a mod, I'm gonna ban all "Wii is DOOMED!" threads unless its backed with solid proof and there's a fair argument there. Someone saying its doomed due to 1 bad week is ridiculous...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Ultraslick is and has always been a rabid sony fanboy. Don't take him serious people.

The Wii has already won, and will continue to 110-120 million sales, while the ps3 and x360 will stop at 70-80 million.

By the way, the PS3 has also peaked, because it is down YoY over the same period last year by around 200k.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Wii is still the market leader in the home console market this gen. You really can't have a fall from grace when you're still in the top position, can you?

Are you referring to 1 week's sales out of the past 220 weeks of sales data?

I'm just curious as to what signifies the "end" of the Wii's success. The system just outsold the HD systems by a drastic amount over the holidays, and will likely do the same again in 2011, as the pattern predicts.

Being down 50K units from the top seller for one week really doesn't seem like enough data to call for the demise, unless you're in the business of wishful thinking, which is great for pre-schoolers and cancer patients, but has no place otherwise. =D

you are dreaming!.. no way in hell the HD twins is gonna catch up!..

how much is the HD twins selling more than the wii each month?.. not by much!

how much total does the wii have over the ps3 and 360?.. a whole lot!..

Im not even gonna post numbers.. so you can do it yourself and educate yourself.

If you want to refer to them as the HD twins, then the Wii never caught up to the PS3/360 total.  Also, does it really matter that they catch up?  None of the current home consoles will catch the PS2, but does that make the PS2 more relevant than them today?
