Behind in Japan, ahead everywhere else.  In the US specifically, Wii is tracking over a year ahead of PS2 in terms of sales, and afaik has never fallen behind in a month to month comparison.

Yeah, it's still miles ahead. probably by about a year in America, 5 months in EMEAA and about a month behind in Japan

I believe it's around 8 months ahead overall...

Ahead overall. The problem with Wii is that is so low in Japan and never will catch PS2 there. Also, in EMEAA PS2 has more markets becuase Sony efforts, while Wii no.

Kind of a quick and dirty comparisson but there you go. Subtract about 2 million for PS2's extra 8 months in Japan.  PS2 sold close to 19 million in 2005. PS2 was showing some insane legs going into its twilight years. It was still pulling consistent 200k plus weeks basically up until 2008.
