what I find funny in all this is PS3/360 fans are rejoycing that their sales are better then Wii. But by what? 50,000 units?

PS3/360 have SO MANY better games than Wii has and yet Wii is still selling above 100,000 units.

I find this ironic how a console with lack of new good games is managing such numbers. Especially when 3rd party have abandoned the Wii like every other Nintendo console.

Looking at 2011 and BASED ON MY TASTE, there is probably 10-15 games I will buy on PS3 about 10 on 360 and maybe 3 on Wii.

The key thing here is by your taste.

By many people's tastes, the Wii is a great console with a great library.

I have around 15 360 games, 12 PS3 games but 65 Wii games, and I want to get another 10 via backlog and another 15 this year.

If that's the case, and with the advertising, why would the Wii drop so low?

I too have about 60wii games. Just saying the last year and ATM so far 2011 is looking lackluster for the Wii.

Most the games I have are not on shelf anymore. ATM if I go to a shop (well at least in Australia) it is all games that are aimed at casuals.  Comparing that to 360/PS3 bench and there is all these great games out.

The point I was trying to make was that even with a weaker lineup it is still managing great numbers.

I personally feel that PS3 is high atm because of piracy being open now. 360 had the kinect affect which boosted sales.

Yeah, that seems pretty likely

Although, last year had a great line-up of games, and this year (IMO) looks even better. I won't list them, but games like:

The Last Story

Zelda: Skyward Sword

Xenoblade

Conduit 2

Kirby's Epic Yarn

And many others, indicate that the market is turning away from "casual" support. People just need to look past all the shovelware and they'll find some truly great games out there

problem is only shovelware is on shelves here atm (with maybe 2-3 actual games). It is hard finding an actual game I would like.  In comparission to PS3/360 when I look at their shelf most the games you see you recognise what they are as you read about them online and seen videos etc...

That's because the Wii is not only open to traditional gamers (hardcore gamers) but to the ocean that is everyone else... which includes old folks down to the youngest of people.

The Wii is not even recognized by traditional gamers... it's a joke to us and any sign of it failing JUSTIFIES OUR RAGE! RAWWWR!! (Shakes head like maniac)!!!!!!!!!!!! xD

lol Seriously though traditional gamers (most traditional gamers) are just happy that the joke, that is the Wii is seriously failing atm and lets hope it dies quicker then you finishing reading this post.

All gaming systems, consoles/PC, have thier perks... why fight over preferences? I like Coke and you like Pepsi, that's it, let's not fight over which toy we like best cause that's what they are. Is someone's preference in a toy important or is the relationship between you and your neighbor more important? Answer is obvious, but THE most important thing is your relationship with God almighty. God Bless you in Jesus's name.

I can communicate without talking... I can send a loved one money without actually sending money... and I can commit theft without the product disappearing, the point of theft is the point of theft not one of it's possible symptoms which is the product dissappearing. The thief wants to gain something without paying for it, that's the point of theft, the thief doesn't have to care or anybody else has to care if the product dissappears. The product dissappearing is just a possible symptom of theft. Gifts are sacrfices, in order to give a gift, it has to be a genuine sacrfice/gift, meaning a copy of the game isn't still in your PC. Piracy is theft and/or being a culprit of theft.

Interesting not because of the sales order, but how close everything is. The gap between 1st and last place is less than 50k, that's really not very much in the grand scheme, especially when you have holiday numbers where the diff between Wii and the nearest competitor is a 500k gap on a weekly basis.

That said, I do think that Kinect may be party responsible for the gap.

There are no games on the Wii.....it deserves to be in last.

On a serious note. The Wii didn't have anything til Super Mario Galaxy 2 last year. But it still outsold the PS3 and 360. So the people using "The Wii hasn't had any games release like the PS3 and 360 have" need to take that excuse to the graveyard.

People who own the Wii are growing tired of the ****ware system and Moving on or Kinecting elsewhere.

It was obvious, the novelty of motion controls  has worn off (thing that we are going to see with Kinect itself, which is never going to be huge as it was back in Dec, IMO). Now the Wii can live only in the ammount and quality of its software, and we know that we have a problem there. I think Nintendo should take this as one in a life-time oportunity: start hyping up their new hardware, releasing it before the end of 2012. They can ride on the success of the Wii, getting more support from 3rd parties, offering a very powerful machine and expanding their library to more mature titles. Nintendo has to remember that at the end, casual gamers are not going to make them survive as a vidya company.

The wii has NOTHING at all right now. Im never surprised.

Yeah. I was hoping TLS would have better legs, though.

TLS looks good but it ain't a system seller type of game. The wii is ending it's time soon, but this week's sales don't exactly mean it will go down from now. The other systems have new games coming out which is why they are selling with decent numbers.

I expect Nintendo to cut for the 4th consecutive time their predictions on Wii hardware, 15m for the whole year, very scary considering the original prediction was 20m.

Reason 1: Yes, Donkey Kong Country Returns under-performed. Its the truth...Nintendo expected it to be a HUGE success similar to New Super Mario Bros. Wii. but I don't even expect it to sell 50% of NSMBW's #'s in the end. I wouldn't be surprised to see NSMBW outsell DKCR in 2011.

Reson 2: Reason 2 is the main reason as to why Nintendo didn't make there yearly prediction IMO. Vitality Sensor. Yes, Vitality Sensor was supposed to come out in 2010 until Nintendo desided to delay it. Actually, Iwata said that it was going to come out not too late into 2010 which means probably in September at the latest. Nintendo has also said that they expected Vitality Sensor to be one of there biggest things to come out of 2010 and that it had the potential to be the next Wii Fit.

Dunno here, they're probably just not buying games at all, casuals wont buy 2 systems, plus with the economy being crap and people losing jobs all over, who can justify entertainment purchases?

About Malstrom, he is back...here are some parts from his new "the incredible 360" article:

Microsoft cannot be pleased at all about the 360′s performance of late. Anyone who thinks this performance is ‘good’ has not been paying attention to the massive amount Microsoft has spent

Half a billion dollars just for marketing? And what did this get Microsoft?

Tepid sales.

NPD January 2010:

Xbox 360- 332,800

NPD January 2011:

Xbox 360- 381,000

OH MY GOODNESS! THAT IS A 48,000 UNIT INCREASE!

What co-option!

What a selling to the masses!

48,000 unit increase! Oh my!

1 For trying hard... LOOL

LOL yeah ...

I'm only gonna address the first bit.

A) Shortages in U.S
B) 500 mill is for up to 2012. Meaning it hasn't all been spent yet ...

You wanted sources to prove that it was all used, but do you have any proof for YOUR statement?

Just checked last year's numbers and found Wii was 5th once, that means below 360, PS3, DS and PSP, so this isn't the first time this happens.
