Why not playing GTA III instead ? It's the best GTA anyway.

Aside from that Rockstar made some minor design flaws with GTA IV, but the core gameplay mechanics are a lot better than any GTA before that. GTA V could easily be the best GTA game ever with some small changes.

mission variety, making driving a bit more arcadey, more countryside, planes

and you have the perfect GTA game.

totally agreed

Do agree with you on the gameplay over graphics and yes there are some very good old games. Still lovin total anihilation (PC), rock and roll racin(SNES) and twisted metal 3 on the PS1 but i think that with some games such as twisted metal PS3 they have kept it good and proper with good gameplay but rubbish graphics.

Wait... does this mean im not human?

Me and many others still play older games for same old reason. The quality of the gamplay from the older games stil hold up after 10-30 years. You just can't say that an older game like the Legend of Zelda or Final Fantasy 7 aren't good games anymore because they're old. Hell some of these games can still be better than a game in the same genre that was released recently. The graphics might have age for some but their gamplay sure haven't.

A game like Donkey Kong Country Returns or even LBP will most likely age better than a game like Heavy Rain or Mass Effect in terms of graphics.

@maxwellgt2000 Sonic 4 and NSMBWii are not hard, dont know why people would think that. you do have a case for DKC.

Hmmm, I'm always playing old games, I guess it's a nostalgic thing but then again I feel I was left out of the greatest gaming era and so I make up for it by playing all older games.

Yeah because thinking San Andreas tops GTA4 is such a controversial opinion around here.

Anyway.

I like playing old games - and often - but I'd rather stick my finger up the ass of a wildebeest than have someone tell me what I should play, or why I should play.

what's a wildebeest?

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

I see nothing wrong with still playing the older games, probably because there IS nothing wrong with it.

I spend more time replaying old games every year, than I do playing new ones.

i'll second everything you said. great post, perfect thread, and more.

older games are just plain better in some respects, and that you can't deny no matter how much you try.

i'm happy with my past Magnavox, Atari 2600, Nintendo, Sega, PS2, and arcade experiances. i'm not that old lol, just experianced.
