Forums - Sales Discussion - Lifespan of the Wii?

Even though Nintendo didn't release the information and it came from some of their third party developers the information is still valid unless Nintendo calls it flat out lies (which it hasn't).  Don't you think Nintendo would have said something by now considering the information is even on the Wii's wikipedia page and has been covered and repeated by many gaming websites and a few magazines if the information wasn't true?  Nintendo has never denied that information so why would they if Microsoft used it?  A denial requires that the information be untrue in the first place...

And as for graphics, most people don't realize just how bad the graphics of the Wii are compared to the competition , even some of the people on this site which are some of the most hardcore when it comes to gaming don't seem to realize it.  Just look at crossplatform games such as Call of Duty 3 and the differences are jaw dropping, it's like going from little league to the major league, that's the kind of difference they have in graphics and that's what Microsoft and Sony have to get across to the public.

As for the Wii's controller being the selling point, Microsoft or Sony should have a parody ads (well maybe not Sony since they are using motion control as well) showing two people competing against each other (in a first person shooter for example), one using a Wii like controller and the other using a standard controller and watch the person using the standard controller kick the other person's ass.

Anyways Sony and Microsoft need to start doing something and stop giving the Wii a free pass.

"even on Wiis Wikipedia page"? "but i saw that iraqian praising USA on Fox news". LMFAO. The point was that it still is unconfirmed. Think for example the lawsuits if it isn't. Anyway, if Nintendo would suddenly start caring about system power in public, it would make them look stupid because of what they have said earlier. Even if those specs would be untrue, they don't necessarily want to deny them. They have said that system power does not count. Also confirming requires information to be true. CoD3, propably the best example. Cheap port vs specifically developed game for HD console. Wiis graphics don't look bad at all. 360:s and PS3:s just looks better. It doesn't matter do people realize graphical differences when they don't care about it. In the other hand, Nintendo could make parody ad by 80yo gramps playing FPS with Wii Remote against some nerd with a pad, and granpa would beat that nerd. Guess which commercial would be more effective. Only problem with M$ and Sony is that there's not much they can do for Wii. Especially when they are at eachothers throats.

Any 80 year old using a wii remote beating a fps nerd using a gamepad?  Umm yeah, actually lets just end this thread, it has gone beyond idiotic.

Without auto aim a controller is far less accurate, is far slower, and far more clumsy than the pointer on the Wiimote; I would be surprised if very good players on a controller could beat below average players using a keyboard and mouse or Wiimote.

You can't even compare a mouse to a wiimote for accuracy, the mouse blows it away completely.  A gamepad blows away a wiimote in accuracy as well.  There's no way that someone using a wiimote could win in a first person shooter against someone else using a gamepad (assuming both players are even remotely close in skill).  I'm just going to assume you thought we were talking about a shooting game like Time Crisis rather than a first person shooter.

I'm starting to doubt that you've ever used the Wiimote ...

If you're playing a FPS without auto-aim on a console you are forced to aim using the right hand analogue stick; even watching good players this tends to mean that it takes several seconds to line up a headshot. With the Wiimote a headshot only requires a fraction of a second to line up using average players. If the developer isn't a fool, you can turn and strafe as easily using the Wiimote as you can using a controller.

But believe what you want ...

After all people who never got used to Keyboard and mouse always claim that the gamepad is superior to the KB+M regardless of how foolish it makes them sound.

Yepp nobody understands that the graphics is worse on Wii than on xbox360 or PS3. When Wii is advertised with Wii Sport, something you most possible could have done on a PS1. Come on, wiimote is kicking the ass of the graphic race for the moment and you know it

LOL looks like you have never even played with the Wii. Remotes accuracy depends a lot from how steady your hand is, or are you able to fire with remote moving. Targeting with Wii Remote is about 10000 times faster than targeting with gamepad. Besides, a lot of people dislike targeting with analog, while moving with another. I personally don't like the keyboard-mouse controls in FPS:s, pretty odd that people say it being better than nunchuk-remote controlling. I also had one other point in that 80 yo playing with remote against a nerd with a pad. It doesn't take long from the gramps to learn how to play...
