Forums - PC - And you wonder why developers 'hate' PC gamers ...

lol why pull the PC version of Crysis 2 now ?

The damage has already been done and now he wants the buying crowd to suffer because someone leaked the fully playable pre-release version ?

Jim you little bastard.

My question is who exactly leaks this stuff online? couldn't possibly be the end user if its pre-release.They then blame it on PC gamers...wtf? Piracy wont be an option if these things weren't just sitting there. The torrent sites are obvious to everyone yet they're tsill there untouched, unpeturbed and unruffled. Who is to blame? Nowadays, you can get songs directly off legit sites like youtube using legitimate freeware and other legitimate sites...is that piracy too?

The problem with the whole "piracy" debate is that unlike actual theft, it's nothing but blurred lines. When a game is leaked way before the release, I get the feeling that an actual employee is responsible. How this ends up blamed on the end user is beyond me.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Talking about developers not earning enough money because many people play games without paying for them? Yes, there's no relevance or anything else in this article, just whining.

well i think this is common knowledge by now. What does yet another article accomplish? does he think everyone will magically stop pirating or what?

Of course not, but that doesn't mean he can't put attention on the subject. There's no reason to be silent and just let all of this happen without trying to bring attention to it.

Yeah, that's why I make sure to fully source the article so it's not really pirating but nice try though.  Way to deflect!

Another day, another piracy thread on vgchartz.

tl;dr: Some insider (probably staff/ former staff) leaks a game online a month early, and Jim Sterling goes on an anti-piracy rant about how pirates are cheapskates who are killing PC gaming. Maybe some responsibility for this rests with those responsible for leaking it? It isn't the pirates made this available originally.

He actually says they should scrap the PC version of Crysis 2. He is proposing to let those who didn't pay have their fun while preventing those wanting to buy it from doing so. This would accomplish the EXACT OPPOSITE of what he was arguing for -- for all gamers to simply buy the games they play, as there would be no way to buy it without an actual release. What a fucking hypocrite.

And If that wasn't enough, twestern rips Jim's entire article anti-piracy rant, including images, onto another site without permission.

So non-piraters have now been blamed for the following things in the last week:

Pirating avatars

Pirating articles that are fully sourced

...I wonder what we are going to get blamed for next by the video game pirates themselves.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

It would have been better if he comes up with a solution than just being guy 100.000 who complains about it on the internet;.

Then again it is not the only industry getting hurt...Especially the Anime publishers are getting hurt;..You can find easily more than 100 members downloading anime episodes..Probably saw more than 40-50 series;...and would not be surprised if less than 10 members buys the anime...  I know how it hurts considering I invested in one (Nekotachi entertainmen)  ...
