Yes very excited. It looks much better than the 1st which is the only Bioware game I didn't adore. This game seems to be Mass effect in medieval ages...can't wait!

Getting it for PC though, cus its cheaper lololol

I would but.... contrary to your sig platinum trophies mean something to those who care about them which is why I HAVE to get the ps3 version, imma completionist and trophies are a dream come true for someone like me, but I respect your opinion

I have been pessimistic about this title since it was announced, thinking that Bioware would do like they did with Mass Effect 2 and what other RPG developers seem to be doing lately; watering down and replacing depth and value with action and effects.

Lo and behold, I was right. This would make me really cross if it weren't for two things; one being The Witcher 2 on the horizon and the other being the fact that I saw it from a mile off. Bioware are losing their shit and turning into another Activision/EA action frenzy super duper pimpled teenager mashfest. Oh, well, enjoy!

HOw is this game dumbed down?  Have you played it?  I do agree that mass effect 2 featured zero micromanagement which was a huge letdown for me, I really wanted them to expand the loot system and how much you can really customize a character, maybe theyll change their minds for 3 due to how poorly (imo) mass effect 2 still sold despite their obvious casual approach.  Dragon age 2 doesnt seem to be going down this path, they are refining the conversation system and polishing the combat system which seems miles ahead of dragon age origins, and I platinumed that game because of how much I enjoyed it.  The only thing that held it back was the robotic animations during conversation and during combat, where characters had to be in the perfect position to attack and would shuffle for what seemed an eternity (on the hardest difficulty this can be the difference between winning and losing, no joke).  From everything ive seen theyve simply upgraded presentation, while refining, not removing, the micromanagement aspects that made dragon age origins a hardcore gamers game.  GIve it a chance.  Try it on pc as well, that seems to be what youre looking for, a challenge.  You havent even played it yet.

True, I haven't played it. There are few people that have but early impression and Bioware's own description of the new combat are in line with what I'm saying. And, like I mentioned, I recently saw a video demo of the combat system realtime and it is exactly what I feared it would be. Bioware are losing their shit for my part, an upgraded dialogue tree won't salvage the gameplay when the gist of the game is combat (as it usually is in these games) and I really don't like the combat system. For the record; I always play proper RPG's on the PC.

You didn't play it on PC, so you wouldn't understand how the combat is potentially being dumbed down. We'll see when I actually play it, but early statements/videos are not a good sign for those of us who played the real Dragon Age Origins on PC.

well, I'm excited. Can't say I miss the combat system from the first one as it didn't translate well onto consoles.

Dragon Age Origins is one of my favorite games this gen. I've played and beaten the game on both PC and 360 (360 with the added content).

The combat looks reaaaaaaaaally dumbed down, but I simply love these kind of games. (Baldur's Gate 2 is my 2nd best game of all time). I will get it. Day 1, probably. But I doubt I'm gonna enjoy it more than Origins.

Hey, so, the Witchers good yeah? I read the novel and it's all very interesting, but the games kinda weird. Does the plot get any better after the first couple of hours and is it just me or is the voice acting and lip syncing pretty bad? I stop playing a few weeks ago and I've been hoping to get back to it, but the early plot, voice acting and lip syncing are kind of putt me off.

Can you spare some wisdom?

OT: Day something something. It sucks that I can't use my original character, it feels like the whole first game was kind of pointless when I don't even get to use the chracter that I put 30 hours into. Hopefully the plot, charm and combat are as good as the last game, otherwise I may just wait until it drops in price.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

The Witcher starts off slow. The voice acting farther in is pretty good but has some issues with the lip synch in certain areas. There are patches that can mend this though, at least that's what I seem to remember.

The Witcher opens up for real once you get into the first city, the plot, sidequests, shops and available locations to explore expand quite a bit. I'd say somewhere around the 3-4 hour mark, it will start to take off in terms of story and characters. The thing I really enjoy about The Witcher is that it doesn't play and behave exactly like all other 3rd person RPG's, and once you get the hang of the timing with combos and unlock more avdvanced moves for both Silver and Steel blades, the game gets really fun! Some of the locations are simply awesome, they draw upon the more typical fantasy archetypes but somehow manage to differentiate themselves through being more "real", in both looks and sound.

All in all, the first couple of hours must be seen almost as a tutorial, not unlike Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights 2 and a few other more linear RPG's. I can strongly recommend The Witcher, if you liked the books, there are hundreds of cool and familiar elements that will please you and Geralt may seem one dimensional at first but he gains more depth as you go along. This is also the best game I've ever played in terms of mixing action and RPG elements. The action lends depth rather than steal it through the clever way it is implemented. Even though I was a tad put off by the combat at first, it grew on me and now remains among the coolest in any RPG I ever played. The Witcher 2 seems like it could be GOTY material, the visuals, levels and combat are out of this world! Go check it out!
