Mass Effect 2 won 3 awards (including Game of the Year) at the the 14th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards yesterday. Despire having the most nominations (9) and winning the most awards (5), Red Dead Redemption failed to win the top prize. Other big winners include Heavy Rain, Limbo and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.

Well deserved. I finish my insanity playthrough in a couple of hours and I'll have 100% of the game's Achievements. There's going to be a huge void in my gaming life and I don't think there's a game on the market that can fill it. Mass Effect 2 was a hell of a ride and the single best game of 2010.

The story was better in Mass Effect 1 but I guess if you put character backgrounds under story then it's well deserved.

5 awards for red dead redemption, guess they didn't want to name that game of the year like so many others.

Limbo an adventure game? puzzle-platform last time I checked.

Nice to see Heavy rain get some well deserved credit.

Heavy rain and God of War got some credit, that's nice. RDR got tons of awards and it's safe to say that Mass effect 2 is the Uncharted 2 of this year or last year...whatever. I wanna play this game on the PS3 but I don't either. The demo left me hanging and i was dissapointed with the character customization . I need some motivation to get this game...and some money because Sony is kicking my wallet's ass. Got pre-ordered MvC3, Killzone 3 and I'm getting duodecim and Heroes on the move. This game just keeps falling to the bottom of my list.

I do agree with most of the list. I just feel it is sad they don't add a platformer cathegory, which in my opinion should have been for DKCR. No wait. Galaxy 2. No, DKCR. Wait, no. it Should be for Galaxy 2. No, actually, just give it to DKCR... Shit. Give it to Nintendo.

Except for 1 Catagory (guess), I can definitely say everything else is very well deserved!

Good to see that everyone from acorss most sites agree that God of War III had AMAZING Animations.

Good to see Heavy Rain getting the recognition it deserves such as Innovation, OST, etc.

Red Dead Redemption once again pulling lots of awards as well as Limbo.

I definitely agree with Mass Effect 2 being overall GoTY, and I like the fact that RDR won pretty much everything else. Both brilliant games.

Platformers can be entered in the Adventure or Action categories.

Just as Family can be entered inside of Causal, Original Music Composition can be in Soundtrack andd massively multiplayer can be in Social Networking, which they aren't.

Platformers were the main console genre for a couple of generations. I can't believe trends made us forget about them.
