Sony did not talk about Hardware in their press release. They said their software is up 25% and they have the best games coming this yr.

LOL!! That's because their hardware sales in the U.S. are dismal. The only thing the PS3 is outselling in the U.S. is the PSP and PS2.

Well the software sales are good for PS3..The difference between the Wii's and X360 software sales are not that huge considering the huge userbase difference in USA..

Software sales are interesting... despite lower MSRPs, lower new unit sales and it's biggest 3 games being bundled, Wii still outdid 360 for software dollars.

Also, holishit @ PSP. Just $10 million?  VGC is WAY overtracking PSP game sales...

PSN sales.

VGC includes DD sales?  When did this happen?

They lose money with every copies sold on PSN.

What?...It's the only logical explanation I can make without accusing VGC's tracking.

Something else worth pointing out.

Examiner - The PS3 ran many promotions with gift cards and credits at various online and physical retailers that brought the effective price down to $250. For Sony not to mention hardware sales numbers is a bit strange.

NPD doesn't track Wal Mart or did it change?

They don't get data from WalMart. They extrapolate to get their numbers (just like VGC does) since they do not have full market data (NPD has ~50% iirc).

You can add  5-10% to NPD numbers since then don't track every U.S. retailer and then don't track Wal-Mart at all which is THE biggest retailer in the U.S. lol!! NPD numbers are always undertracked.  VGC first adjusted numbers where pretty much accurate.

It's not that they don't track the sales, but rather they don't get actual numerical data. They use the data they have to estimate sales for the entire country. That's what they and every other tracking service does as well (Neither Famitsu or Media Create have full market coverage)

Can someone sum this up for me?

Is Xbox 360 overtracked or undertracked and by how much?

Is the PS3 overtracked or undertracked and by how much?
