Forums - Sales - "World Of Goo" Ipad edition thrashes previous sales record

The Ipad edition seems to have taken 2D boy and other indie developers by surprise, as its first 31 days on sales nearly doubled that of the Wii version.

The amazing game, published and Developed by 2D boy, a team of only 2 workers, sold an amazing 125,000 copies, compared to the Wiiware version, which reached only 68,000 copies in the same time.

It was one of the most expensive games on WiiWare, and it's the same deal with the Ipad version, however, it's not the price which has been turning some heads, but the difficulty. It is for this reason that a patch which allows levels to be skipped easier, and an infinite amount of these skips, to be released.

I LOVE World Of Goo, and, seriously, if you haven't played it, you really, really need to get it, an any platform. But did this news seriously surprise anyone? And are you happy for World Of Goo?

iPad version outsold the Wii version?

I wonder why that is. How many iPad's are out there?

Interesting, but I'd like to know what World of Goo sold in total on WiiWare, not just it's first 31 days...

I'm fairly certain it's a million-seller actually, or very, very close to it

@Carl- That was my point if you read the OP. It's still nice it's selling so well after it's initial launch though!

That's awesome! I didn't know that only 2 people worked on it :o

I hope they make a sequel!

This, about a million times

However, they said last year a sequel is out of the question. I hope they've changed their minds...

I've never played World of Goo on WiiWare.  I wonder if there is a demo on WiiWare to download so that I can try it out?  I have to go check now...brb.

Update:  There isn't a demo :(.  I guess I have to go to youtube to check and see if there are any gameplay videos of it.

There is a demo, but, whilst it's good, it isn't representative of the game as a whole. For example, some of the later levels are much, much better (thinking of Internet Superhighway), and there's also the free-build which is great fun.

I've logged over 50 hours on it if it gives you any sorta guideline of its longevity. But most do around 20 hours
