Why would the success or failure of a game be attributed to a marketing strategy? It is possible Heavy Rain was unique enough, and caught enough of a buzz on the Internet, it did good sales.

Common sense? Come on, if internet buzz translated to sales, Killzone 2 sales would've been possibly way higher than they are now.

Heavy Rain is in a niche genre, and it needed the marketing. Fortunately, Sony hit it just right.

What campaign are you referring to? The move ads? or just Kevin Butler in general? I think Sony got there monies worth on him considering the close to a year of good game ads and $299 pricing ads with him. For the end of 09 and first half of 2010 Sony's ads definately helped considering the difference in shipping LTD hardware at this point.

Just because the move wasn't as succesful as Kinect, doesn't mean it's ads were a flop, what did they ship, like 4.5m . The distasful ads that you speak off were mostly internet viral ads. The TV commercial campaign i thought was pretty well done. That's just my opinion though, i know you prefer MS's campaign but i don't see KB or move as a flop this past holiday. It wasn't a runaway like Kinect but they still sold well. Considering both consoles shipped the same amount this past quarter and KB was a part of Sony's marketing, he had to have had some influence on buyers other then Sony fanboys...

I honestly think Sony's main problem is they seem to attack its competitors when it comes to Consoles which doesn't really work just makes people aware of their competitors.

In TV's though their ad campaigns are how good their tv's are... they should stick to those ads... they work rather well.

I woun`t get so hyped up for this game. Just looking at the Publisher tells ya this is one of those cheap budget games. Don`t be expecting much out of this one people.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to Kinect & PS3 wants to Move! Why are both systems having such relationship problems? The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.
