I'm not quite sure but I think it is Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. I just keep coming back for small doses... Or even bigger ones. Maybe it's not the best but it's what I like probably more than I like the others.

Starcraft, GTA: SA, CS 1.6, CSS, Mass Effect... (in order form the longest time ago, to the newest one, Starcraft, AoE and NFS 2 were one of the first games I ever played)

Starcraft II, Diablo II, Half-Life 2 and Call of Duty 1.

OMG was this game a surprise for me, played it last summer without knowing it actually has a prequel (which is more acclaimed than it) called The Longest Journey. The Longest Journey is a point & click adventure while this one is more 3D. They both have wonderful music, a great art style (with the second one having good immersive graphics), very compelling characters and more.

I pick both of them as I see them as 1 game ultimately and together they have the best story I have ever experienced in a game (sorry FF6, MGS3 and MGS4).

I eagerly await the sequel to Dreamfall, the problem is the devs take like years to make the next installment

Tie for me between Red Alert 2 and World of Warcraft. Baldur's Gate gets an honorable mention!

I can't believe no1 mentioned Dungeon keeper 2 yet, come on that game was awesome, not very known though, it's a shame it was such a good game
