Ugh. 4 hours seems far too short, even if it was at maximum brightness. That means that a non-Wi-fi, normal brightness, non-3D gaming session might last 7 hours. Add 3D into that, and I'd estimate about 5.5 hours. Not bad, but it's only comparable to my 6-year old DS Phat, which has a 6 hour battery life.

It's a new console. Like the DS, they were prepared to sacrifice battery life for performance down to the 6 hour level. Sony were prepared to go to the 4 hour level with the PSP1. I'm betting on a repeat, followed by a 3DS Lite which is coming no matter what Iwata says now, with more battery life.

The 3DS is already "Lite" which is why it came late.

battery life way to short worse than psp go without wireless communications just sad

So worst case is closer to 4hrs than 3. Good. What does that mean for best case with lower brightness and 3D off? 8hrs?

Wouldn't the worst case scenario be with wireless on?

not bad, could be better of course, if this becomes a sales-issue, nintendo will fix it like they fixed the horrible design of the gba, so im not worried, sooner or later, we´ll get a better battery.

pwin´ every other villain since 1994

That means 2-3 hours with Wi-Fi I would guess? And without 3D and lowest brightness some 8 hours?

Alright. Could be better, but it's good enough.

good enough for me i haven't played any game for more than four hours anyway; can't wait

Good enough i think.  One can't expect battery miracles from relatively powerful handheld devices.  Even given it's larger size (and potentially room for a larger battery), if the NGP gets anywhere close to this battery-life Sony will have done very welll.

Good enough for me. I never play more than 2 or 3 hours at a time, and I most likely won't have the brightness on max settings anyway. I'm also probably turning off the wireless for most of the time since I'm never near a suitable Wi-Fi hotspot.

Well good to know at least.  Not outstanding battery life haha.  Won't be too much of an issue for me as I play portable games in the home haha.  But for those using it on the go, they may want to bring their chargers with them haha.  Though I'm assuming most do that anyways, like bringing laptop chargers and whatnot with them.  Guess it was to be expected as it is more of a hoss than the DS.

Hmm.  Few people will play with those settings, but I'd still strongly prefer a much higher battery life for it.
