Some people need to let it go and not let comments from the few 360 fans on this site bother them. 360 won this week by 6.5k.   Congrats on the extra 6500 consoles, i was one of them because of the stupid Rrod.  :(

In the grand scheme of things all 3 consoles have a statistical tie. VGChartz data is not 100%. Hell the 360 could be 10% ahead of what it is or even behind. Goes the same for Wii and PS3. If anyone needs to stop crying its the people defending that the 360 is ahead by 6.5k units.

Yep, 360 won, get over it.

For PS3 fans there is no shame in this defeat. Don't forget that Kinect and a $1bn campaign was to help x360 "destroy" the competition from it's launch and through 2011. So far this year the WW gap is so close between the two that x360 fans are disappointed. The same x360 fans celebrated these close victories are the same that thought the gap would be much, much wider. Nothing wrong with that.

As for the wii it's still there. YOY it's falling but it has only fallen into the roughly the same sales figures as the others so if anyone think that x360 or PS3 is gaining any major ground is smoking the bad stuff, although combined the HD consoles will obviously close the gap.

lol.. its growing...

And even with the campaign EDD made $679million.

Do you even know what EDD is? When you have figured that out tell me how much of that profit x360 made. You don't know because MS never said. I am sure it made profit and please that it did but EDD (which consists of PC gaming, online stuff, aspects of MS office and Windows 7 etc.,) helped make that profit, not x360 on it's own.

@kowenicki

Did I ever stated that the gap between x360 and PS3 was not growing. I clearly stated that it was but not to the extent most ardent x360 supporters anticipated. I also mentioned so far this year the gap is minimal, approx 10k which is relatively nothing.

Yes, a gap is gap and a win is a win.

Yes I do know a great deal about what is EDD. You listed some, but also includes a number of incubator projects. The only online stuff is Xbox Live. The guts of MS online operations are in the Online Services division.  The vast vast vast majority of Windows 7 and MS Office sales are in the Microsoft Business Division. Only direct retail sales are in EDD and they also include all the expenses related to sales and marketing in the retail sales division.  EDD also includes Zune, Mediaroom, Windows Mobile, and Windows Phone 7 which are all losing money right now.

Official description:

Entertainment and Devices Division ("EDD") develops and markets products and services designed to entertain and connect people. EDD offerings include the Xbox 360 platform (which includes the Xbox 360 gaming and entertainment console, Xbox 360 video games, Xbox LIVE, and Xbox 360 accessories, including Kinect for Xbox 360), Mediaroom (our Internet protocol television software), and Windows Phone. In November 2010, we released Kinect for Xbox 360 and the latest version of Windows Phone. Windows Phone revenue is recognized on a straight-line basis over the estimated economic life of the software.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

I don't even know who you are, so you aint a likely suspect

Damage control is the fact you guys are bringing up before we do. These consoles are selling the same amount which amazing.

No it isnt, what's to damage control for 360 fans here? Just calling it out because it's lol funny seeing people do it.

I agree the 360 is doing great, but so is the PS3. It's a tie

Yes they're both doing great, PS3 more so because its price cut is a year old. Still, not a tie, go learn math psrock.

Oh the irony.

All home consoles are statistically tied.

No irony, can't you read, he said tie not statistical tie

well he did first say statistical tie you know the post right before your first one in the thread.

However though even if it's that close WW the 360 is selling best in the region with the best attach rate.

Okay, first this whole tie arguement.  If it's plus/minus 5% margin of error for the site then

  • if 360 is assumed to be on the low end of the margin of error we remove 5% to get 204,613
  • if PS3 is assumed to be on the high end of the margin or error we add 5% to get 219,264

So I guess it is a statistical tie going by the 5% plus/minus guidance of the site as it is possible within the margin of error to swap their position.  The site also estimates the 360 sold more this week so it's listed appropriately above the PS3.   All fine and dandy.

Can we stop arguing about it now?  It's a statistical tie but the 360 is estimated to be the higher seller.

Well the 360 had also been estimated as higher the last two weeks, but if you look now it has the PS3 higher.  Which kind of makes it feel increasingly pointless to comment on weekly sales when you know they'll change in a week.  Even more each quarter when we get shipment info.
