Forums - Microsoft - Halo: Combat Evolved remake coming this holiday

The Halo: Combat Evolved remake is allegedly being developed by New Jersey-based Saber Interactive, the company behind TimeShift and Namco's upcoming Inversion, but we've been unable to confirm the nature of the engine powering it. We understand that it's something other than the Reach engine.

As if MS would give it to them, they're clearly not talented enough for the Halo franchise ...

I don't think they'd give a remake of a ten-year-old game to one of their better teams either... That is, if they actually had some good first-party teams. I don't think they're going to be able to screw up this remake. Maybe it won't be as good as the original but what remake is?

wtf @ Timeshift developers. 343 studios must be really busy with that other halo project.

It's just that simple.

Yeah cause only first party teams can work on console ports for Microsoft...Sabe Interactive is so a Microsoft first party studio. They couldn't hire someone like Epic, Crytek or Remedy to make them a game without making them first party.

Seriously though, was the jab at MS first party studios worth sounding ignorant like this?

*Insert standard Sponge Bob Happy picture here*

Do want!

Sweet...hopefully they don't bring over the shenanigans from Halo Reach like the DMR, armor abilities (although sprint wouldn't be too bad) and I definitely hope they bring back leading on with your shots to make the game way more skilled again.

*Pops in Halo: Combat Evolved into 360* Danm it is still good and wait, oh I forget most 360 owners never owned the original xbox.

It has been almost ten years already? God damn, time is a merciless fiend... that aside, though, the game will rule. There's no way that it won't given this formula.

Haha...new Halo game no, but copy/paste job of a 10 year old game...I think that team is more than capable.  anyone but Sonic Team should be capable of doing this...

I personally liked Timeshift when it came out. It was before this whole Modern Warfare FPS wannabie craze, and Timeshift had some originality to the concept.

Sonic Team made Phantasy Star Online.

And nights, and Burning Rangers...all fine games. But name me 1 person left from those Sonic Team days...

My hidden point was that they can't boss around independed (more or less) devs like they can their own studios!
