In all seriousness, though-my fiance's 10 year old nephew got Madden 2011, Smackdown vs. Raw 2011, and NBA 2K11 for Christmas. We hooked his PS3 to the internet for the first time and we spent almost the entire day updating the console and then updating each individual games (wanted to get him some downloadable WWE characters before he went back home--he has a PS3 and 360 but no internet. Go figure.).
In comparison, my brother in law had me hook his 360 to the internet for the first time. He had his 360 since 2007. It took maybe ten minutes--probably not even that long to update him from the original "blades" to the latest Xbox 360 dashboard. The issue is real. That's the reason why I've never taken MGS4 and Uncharted 2 online. It's also the reason I haven't been on Playstation Home in ages despite hearing how much its improved. I just can't wait that long. When I want to play, I want to play.
It's usually worth the wait and some of the recent updates have been very fast. It just makes me cringe whenever one of my PS3 games receives a patch or an update.
