I usually dl at around 1mb/sec from psn, both for demos and FW, it's never been slow for me. Well, it took me like an hour for the catherine demo, but that was from the JP PSN, which can be considerably slower for me at times.
My PS3 downloads over 1gb in under 15 minutes. Your connection is really slow... O_o

Its 11.30 pm here and I lol'd so hard that I woke up 2 people who think I've gone crazy...and they look like they're gonna patch me up 
This must be a problem on your sdide, as when i download patches it takes seconds download.

Try connecting the PS3 directly, It takes a lot of time for me too.

I agree his post didn't help but he's not exactly wrong either.
PSN downloads, for me, are always really slow. They aren't five hours slow but downloading and installing a 50MB patch takes much longer than it should. Even downloading a patch for a game takes a long time. Normally, patching a game or forware update takes me about 15-20 minutes which is just insane.
It really is a case of you get what you pay for.

There is some kind in truth in that post though.
Xbox patches are only 1-5MB and therefore don't take that long. Hasn't much to do with the download speed though.
Sounds like some people have this problem, but I don't. I recently downloaded the Killzone3 demo, 800 megs, I think it took an hour or two. Maybe change your DNS to google open DNS, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4?

You realize that's still pretty slow right?
If it took you an hour or two to download that it means you're downloading between 120-250KB/sec.
