http://www.psuni.com/sony-cuts-microsofts-lead-to-2-1-million-6205/: According to this site, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 have a 2.1 million gap. So the gap is slowly narrowing, not widening.

"Sony revealed its Q3 financial report which disclosed that the console manufacturer had reached the 47.9 million mark by the end of 2010. Microsoft on the other hand revealed in early January at CES that they had moved 50 million consoles by the same point in time"

...what's wrong with this site,even back to CES,MS said it's "over"

Xbox 360 has sold 51,3  Millionen and PS3 47,3 Millionen the gap ist 4 Million Consoles. You prediction is wrong.

This thread makes no sense, are you telling me that VGchartz is of by almost 2 million on 360 but almost spot on, on PS3? Anyway 360 has had the same price since 2008 and it don't sell in Japan. Yet it still seems to outsell PS3 every week or at least tie (Vgchartz numbers not official i know). This year i think M$ is due for a pricecut, Sony i am not so sure about they need to make money. Not sure if they can cut price and still make money on every console sold.

Will add 1 more thing why I think MS will ship more 360s than Sony ships more PS3s this current quarter.

In MS financial results released last week the guidance they gave for the EDD division stated that they expect revenue for the qtr to increase by 50% YoY.  MS expects revenue for the division to jump from $1.665Billion to $2.5Billion.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

I don't want to get involved in this war between everybody LOL...but I do have some very simple few questions.(Hopefully doesn't cause trouble)

So...after all of this:

Is PS3 over-tracked or Under-tracked or spot on?

Is 360 over-tracked or Under-tracked or spot on?

By the way Wii numbers are right on track since they already adjusted #'s after Nintendo's report correct?

Not according to vgchartz it isn't.

I wouldn't worry about.  With the ways adjustments have been around here and as well as the PS3 has been selling, vgchartz will have the gap at 3 million before we know it.

so the shipped gap is growing...

excellent.

should grow a bit more to take it back above 3m next quarter too.

10-1-2010

XBOX 360 = 44.5

PS3 = 41.62

1-1-2011

XBOX 360 = 50.8

PS3 = 47.92

The gap is the same.

there will always be far more PS3's in the channel than 360's... always

And those PS3's will be forever stuck there in a time loop until the Doctor comes to save the day... always.

why the smart reply...? I am merely stating an obvious fact.

the 360 doesn't sell in Japan (so minimal stock is held) and isnt available in  many other markets that the PS3 is.

Why the defensive reply...?  At this point in this console generation, it's an obvious fact that consoles in channels will be sold to customers sooner or later.  So I don't see the issue/point in stating it.
