So my best friend just gave me his old Dreamcast along with two controllers and a copy of Street Fighter III: Third Strike (though sadly it's just the disc).

 What games should I track down for it?  Jet Set Radio is probably the first one I'll get, but I can't really think of too many others I'd want.  Maybe Crazy Taxi, but I already have it for ps2. The Dreamcast version feels like the more "proper" version, though, if you know what I mean.

Is Shenmue easy to track down these days?  And was Shenmue II ever released on the system in the West?  Or did they only release the Xbox version over here?

Also, what cables would be when using an HDTV?

Shenmue was release in Europe only and it had no English dub, only sub and Jap audio (which is sweet anyways). Unfortunately unless you get a mod chip or a bootdisc I don't think its compatible with the us ver.

The best game on DreamCast would have to be PowerStone 1 or 2. But both are extremely hard to find and cost about the same amount as a new game (50-70$). I would also consider getting the two Sonic Adventures they were awsome back in the day. Also Evolution was a great RPG series you should check out both installments.

- Resident Evil Code: Veronica (play it if you haven't played it on PS2)

- Quake III Arena (one of my fav FPS games ever. It's also available on PC)

- Grandia II (JRPG - available on PC)

- Power Stone 2 (Super Smash Bros. of the Dreamcast. Very very fun multiplayer)

- MDK2 (TPS - available on PC)

Don't get SOA on the Dreamcast, get the superior Gamecube version. What are you people on even suggesting it???

Memory's a bit dry, plus, others have already suggested most of the good stuff.

Edit: Don't get ANYTHING that was ported to the Gamecube. All Gamecube versions are SUPERIOR bar maybe Crazy Taxi.

Hell no... stupid pussified gamecube version.. the Dreamcast version was way less censored in the text and game.. In the dreamcast version people smoked and drank alcohol and Aika could be raped in the dreamcast version but wasn't in the Gamecube version.. all references where gone.. also some characters had way more clothes on in the gamecube version.. and the VMU support, Pinta's quest.. > 24 extra legends, piastol

The American Dreamcast version was slightly censored to remove references to smoking and alcohol, cleaned up some dialogue (to make it look less like Aika was going to get raped when being captured by Vigaro), and slightly cleaned up one scantily clad character.
