120k is quite dissapointing for a game like TLS. The first shipment was sold out before thursday (120k) but they said that the second shipment was arriving on the same 27th January (so > 120k FW). If Media Create shows numbers <=120k I guess someone has been lying to us...

New RPG IPs are often a hard sell, even in Japan. Dragon Quest took three games to become the phenomenon that it is.

FF also had a hard time too.

Well I don't know the launch sales off FF1, but considering it saved SE from bankruptcy, I would call that an exception of being a hard sell.

FF1 did 400,000 copies LT. Final Fantasy didn't really start selling until FF3.

Well that was still enough to save the company, so even if it was a hard sell, it was a successful hard sell.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

It sold 300K in Japan according to the data.

EDIT: that's wrong, I have no idea how much it sold.

EDIT²: It sold 400K according to wikipedia, but it doesn't specify if it was Japan, Worldwide or whatever.

Above: still the best game of the year.

How many of those 120k copies were victim to rage nerds? :>

Okay, news is in, and it sold 114K, but this was all that was available, and sold out quickly.

The initial shipment was of 126k untis, meaning there were still 12k available on shelves, that's not a complete sell out. First day figures were 75k according to Famitsu, meaning that not all the remaining 50k units were sold during the week. Second shipment had probably arrived before the week ended, so that means there's no supply problems. Demand is just not that big it seems, retailers preordered the correct amount.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

It still means demand is there, which is more than many admit for a Wii title.

It's in no way a bad start for the title, but earlier reports gave another impression. That's why I always prefer to wait for the final numbers.

Hey, I wait for how the legs last anyway. But this still gives me hope.
