In a country where most people can't read it's no wonder why the Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Majuhid can lie that stoning is in the Quran.

Stoning is not mentioned any where in the quran when it comes to adultery, the punishment is 80 lashes, not stoning to death.

lol, much more humane. If only this was a video of a woman receiving 80 lashes, until her back is just a series of bloody fleshy ribbons we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

I'm sure those being stoned would rather prefer to be whipped than being stoned to death.

How about no torture whatsoever? I'm sure everyone would prefer that.

The world and the different cultures all perceive punishments different. My point is that is the Taliban is lying when they're saying they're enforcing Sharia law, when stoning someone to death cause of adultery can be found no where in Quran. The Quran specifically states 80 lashes.

I don't are what the Quran says. 80 lashes is no better, and is definately wrong. Cultural relativity has it's limits.

And what is your suggestion, bomb them into your way of thinking?

80 lashes is better, you know why? Cause you're still alive afterwards. If the Taliban is going to enforce sharia law they might as well enforce it correctly rather than killing people with stoning.

80 lashes will disfigure their bodies. The wounds could also become infected, as I doubt they have good conditions in Desert Wastelandville.

There are things that go beyond cultural relativity, and I'm sure one day people will rise up and oppose such laws eventually (lots of people flee from those countries anyways, to escape the barbaric medieval practices).

Well we all know god is love, and if god commanded it, then this is really a loving provision. Much like how he had jews stone each other to death for picking up sticks on the sabbath, or adulterly, or children being disobedient to parents. I mean surely stoning a child to death for being disobedient is really in everyone's best interest, and so perfectly justified! Same for adulterers? Do you just want society to be a big orgy? Or is the problem, not the action but the wrong religion, and it's wrong for them to do it because it's in the quran and not the bible. I'm having a hard time figuring it out.

Or fuck, it's just an egregious human rights violation and it is wrong no matter what stupid books command. Anyone with an ounce of empathy for other human beings cannot in anyway try to justify these actions, or make excuses for ancient deities that command them.

God never commanded such a crime

Numbers 15:32-36

35.Then the LORD said to Moses, “The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp

John 8:7 - '' Let he who is without sin cast the first stone''

Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

Romans 2:1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things

We've entered the quoting religious texts phase. Funny that you can find a quote that can support anything (from compasison to genocide) in these texts...

So you're saying, god was wrong Pizzahut? He commanded moses to have the man stoned to death, and they obeyed, and then later he said "WTF? Why are you stoning people? That's insane and inhumane!". In truth I agree with that interpretation, but it's because I think the bible was written by men, and in no way inspired by supernatural forces. The ancient israelites were a powerful and barbaric military nation. Their laws on how to deal with law breakers and foreigners would be egregious human rights violations today. But once they no longer had any military to speak of and had long lost their prominence in the world, a jew came along and said "Hey, maybe we shouldn't be trying to kill our enemies, and should like, just get along instead." And the oppressed and powerless jews were totally down with that idea.

By your own ommission, god is contradicting himself. Or at the very least you are wrong in saying he never commanded stonings. The law is filled with commands to stone people to death. And you can say "Well we aren't under the law!", doesn't matter. God still command people to do it. heinous.

Watch first 3 minutes. Not only that Old Testament is mostly irelevant to christians, but quotes from the Bible (especially Old Testament) have been alwyas taken out of context by bad people for numoerus reasons. Propaganda, deceiving, convertion, hatered...

Outlaw all religion IMHO

It impedes our true understanding of this planet and all the beings living here together.
