So you're saying, god was wrong Pizzahut? He commanded moses to have the man stoned to death, and they obeyed, and then later he said "WTF? Why are you stoning people? That's insane and inhumane!". In truth I agree with that interpretation, but it's because I think the bible was written by men, and in no way inspired by supernatural forces. The ancient israelites were a powerful and barbaric military nation. Their laws on how to deal with law breakers and foreigners would be egregious human rights violations today. But once they no longer had any military to speak of and had long lost their prominence in the world, a jew came along and said "Hey, maybe we shouldn't be trying to kill our enemies, and should like, just get along instead." And the oppressed and powerless jews were totally down with that idea.

By your own ommission, god is contradicting himself. Or at the very least you are wrong in saying he never commanded stonings. The law is filled with commands to stone people to death. And you can say "Well we aren't under the law!", doesn't matter. God still command people to do it. heinous.
