And Call of Duty is rolling along real well saleswise to.  So, what is the optimal number of Call of Duty titles to be release in a given year?  Is 5 the optimal number?  How about music games.  How about 8 Hero titles in a year?

I write this, because you called someone who is fatigued by the number of Final Fantasy XIII and onward games a "crybaby" and told him to "get over it", as if expressing an opinion is a sign of being a whiner.

hmm...i dont think so...okay FF XI - XIII were shitty IMO but many people enjoyed the games...there are decent...BUT i think there will be like a little hope for FF fans with titles like Type-O and Versus are coming...i think these two will be one of the best FFs ever !!!

Its a fair enough subject which can be argued either way. but there have been about 1,756n version of the thread xD your was easily the best in terms of your argument but to be honest if you want to base it on reviews only 14 was actually genuanly bad. ff13 was just...well it was VERY different compared to any ff games (no towns etc) which lead to it being very split on peoples opinions of it.

but yes if your next thread is not the best thing ever created since the dawn of man i shall be disappointed!!!! (no pressure lololol)

@snfr- That's acceptable, after all, opinion is opinion. Some people like FF13 but not the others in the series, some like them all. As a technical standpoint, it's just as good, but maybe expectations were too high. Look at Other M for example. A game just as great as the rest of the series IMO, but not regarded as highly. Too much hype. But go into it with an open mind, and you'll end up enjoying it!

Hype and too high expectations are definitely big "problems" in the gaming industry. That's why I don't trust reviewers at all anymore.

Yes, Final Fantasy went wrong many years ago in almost all aspects, the stories are predictable and boring, full of cliches. The music is not good anymore and the gameplay it's not true to Final Fantasy roots. People just buy FF games for the purpose of adding games to their big collection. I didn't bash his opinion, but the flamebait and trolling style in which it was written.

Damn, I was about to post this article.

Anyways, good read and I've been saying this since they announced FFXIII and it's 10 years of planned spin-offs.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Yeah. In my opinion, Kingdom Hearts is pretty much the only good thing that came out after the Square and Enix merge... Oh and FFXII!

Indefinately. FF12 has to be one of the great games of the PS2. 

But how long did it take to make? 4 years? Maybe 5? 

And how many FF games are we looking at this year. Precisely

 

Also, I don't think most people enjoyed FF13. And just because it sells well, doesn't mean it's any good. Look at Ninjabread man and other Wii shovelware for example

Its still nonetheless one of the best reviewed jRPG of the past years. Maybe jRPG are burnt out.
