What didn't you know? people love to see things that are on top fall and I mean fall hard. You have Nintendo Fanboys hating Sony and wanting revenge because Sony dominated the last 2 generations forcing Nintendo to discontinue there consols twice and you Have Microsoft fanboys hating Sony because they forced MS to discontinue the original Xbox aswel.

It doesn't matter what Sony does now. They could bring us a handheld with all those specs that costs 100 euros to buy, comes with a lifetime download pass that allows you to download every NGP game that comes out all for the price of free and it even cooks and cleans for you and people will still hate on Sony and the dam thing. People just love to hate Sony.

The reality of the videogame industry is NO ONE stays on top forever.  NO ONE.  That is how the game works.  Sony got lucky with the PS and PS2.  To manifest sheer arrogance, like Sony has been around forever, and feel as a fan you are entitled to be top dog, and think everyone needs to line up with your wish for the shape of the gaming universe, is absurd.

As far as the original XBox goes, Microsoft dropped it after their licensing agreement with Nvidia ran out, and they couldn't make it any longer.  At least they bothered to provide some semblance of backwards compatibility, which is something Sony threw out to save a few bucks in the making of the PS3.

LMAO. Do I care why MS dropped the original Xbox support? No.(Fact is they did and if they were 100mil sold worldwide I'm sure that Nvidia license you talk about would have been renewed)

Did I in anyway give the impression that Sony has been around forever? No.(If you read that again I clearly said they dominated the last 2 gens).

So I'm arrogant now because I stated facts about Sony being on top for the last 2 generations and stated how people love to see things on top fall. Yeah your reply was arrogant not my original post. So tell me Richard, a quick look at your profile shows you don't have any PS3 games added and you owned the Original Xbox.

So answer me this Richard Lol, why don't you have any PS3 games added to your profile and why did you get all sensitive about innocent comments over the original Xbox getting discontinued??? I know your one of the people I spoke about in my original comment right? You hate Sony because you bought a consol that lasted only 4 and a half years???

Also LMAO at the person who thinks MS dropped support of the original Xbox because Nvidia stopped making GPUS. Yeah dropped support 3 months before the release of the Xbox 360 LMAO. NO COMPANY STOPS MAKING THINGS UNTIL THERES NO MORE DEMAND!!! Do you honestly think MS couldn't have gotten Nvidia to make more GPUs if they wanted to LMAO.

The poster implied that Sony is a company that should be loved and not have detractors, with somehow not liking a company is abnormal.

Not really. He said that no matter what they do, they'll have haters (which is true). It's not isolated to Sony (not by a long shot), and if that is your basic point - I fully agree. But the hate will continue, regardless of what good they bring to the table.

It's the sad truth.  I always have to wonder about the mindset of people who promote anything their preferred company does and bash anything their non preferred company does.

It's like the statement about 3D in the NGP.  If Sony puts 3D in their handheld, they will be bashed for copying Nintendo.  If Sony doesn't put 3D, they will be bashed for insulting Nintendo.

Plus, when did it become so unheard of for a company to say that their product is better than the competitors?  The Video game industry does it the least just because they no how violent the fanboys can be in reaction.  Back in the day, Nintendo and Sega always directly insulted each other, and that was part of the deal.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Yeah if it wasn’t for Sony both the N64 and GC would still be made until today :P and the xbox as well and they should have been made forever and ever if it wasn’t for Sony :P

Is that what I said???? No

So what you're telling my is  both Nintendo and MS would still have discontinued there consols at the dates that they did if they sold 75% of what the PS1 and PS2 sold??

I held off buying the PSP, but I believe I'll get this. Is it backwards compatible for PSP games?

Yes but for obvious reasons not with UMD versions ;)

There is a devotion level on par with how the human mind handles religion when it comes to videogame companies, so not sure why anyone would be shocked individuals would irrationally dislike Sony or like another console or company.  With Sony, there is a number of things they did, that caused an amount of hate for them in the past.  There is also illogical fanboyism to.  Same could be said for Nintendo, where they spawned a bunch of Sega fans, as a result of how they handled Mortal Kombat, and displayed mass arrogance back in the day.  Microsoft has RROD and it goes on.

Several things:

* Before you comment on someone's profile, you should actually look over it and see what they really own.  Unforunately you didn't do that.  If you had, you wouldn't be asking this.  You would see a sampling of what I have for the PS3.  Anyhow, what I own is IRRELEVANT to the subject I wrote on, about no one remaining on top forever.  It just doesn't happen.  You would of, if you had, seen also my ownership of a number of PS2 games, and maybe that should ask you how I play them.  Hint, I have a 60GB PS3 for them.  And excluded from the list of my PS3 games is games I HAD own that I beat, that I enjoyed.  And, hmm... you would of seen I had Sports Champions to.  Oh well.

Anyhow, in fanboy wars, not only is the top hated, but everyone else.

On what I said, you should be aware of what happened:

http://compgroups.net/comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.video/Xbox1-production-to-DIE-very-soon-Nvidia-ends-chip-shipments-to-M

Microsoft decides to switch graphic chip maker with the 360, and then pulled the plug on production, to save on costs and ramp up for the next generation launch.  But, feel free to see it as you like.

I think people forget this sometimes. That had to be the fiercest battle in the industry. Good ol' 16-bit days!

What is awesome about retro gaming is that you see formal rivals next to each other, and part of a larger offering.  On the Virtual Console, Sega, Nintendo, NEC, SNK, etc... are all there for play.  With Game Room, there is 2600 and Intellivision stuff.  Makes for an interesting look back perspective.  It is like you can then speak of old fanboy wars of battles you engaged in and remember, and it is much more fonder now.  In the heat of the battle, it wasn't.  And when you are on the losing end, you total develop a resentment of the winning side when they display smugness.

i would love sony even more if the ngp was launched in the states some how this year, which seems highly unlikely from what sony has said though. also was $300 or less, $250 would be a dream.  :)

o.O i love them so much more now.

Wow, I never knew about the slide-cover system and being able to jump over obstacles like that. This game really does get better and better everyday doesn't it?

Yay for the open beta coming out in just a few days!

Proud owner of the PSone original, PSone slim, PS2 slim, PS3 slim, PSP-3000.

37 PS3 games and counting.

Sony is good at creating massive hype on internet, but it won't translate to outsiders and make them buy their ultra high tech NGP.

Above: still the best game of the year.
