If people starts taking justice in their hands it would only be a matter of time before an innocent person gets killed.

That's true, but there are some situations, like that in my first post, where the system fails. Someone's gotta make sure justice is served.

So we should start executing ten year olds?

10 year olds who do what they did should be tried as adults, and should be punished by adults. What they did was way worse than what most adults do, and they got a pat on the back for it too. They're a menace to society, and should be punished accordingly for their actions. Death in their particular case is perfectly acceptable and reasonable.

crime is not always as black and white as you present it with this case. And who is going to decide about who is innocent and who is guilty?

lets imagine you find out who they are and do exactly the same thing to them they did to their victim. that would make things right, wouldn't it? they would need to feel the pain before they die!

but what would make you that?

you would have tortured and killed people and you would have felt good about it.

now are you innocent, or are you guilty?

Well, lets go by the particular case from my first post. They were found guilty, but because of people's prejudices and their refusal to admit that children can be evil, they were not punished accordingly. They should be found and killed. I for one am not the kind of person who could do that, but I'd have nothing but respect for something who'd punish those bastards the way they deserve.

They shouldn't recieve the same ordeal they put that poor 2 year old boy through. No one should have to suffer that way, not even them. They should simply be shot and killed. They don't deserve to exist in this world anymore, regardless of those iudionts ho allowed them to be free on the streets say. It's not about revenge, it's about JUSTICE, the main purpose of the law (another good alternative would be something similar to the punishment the villain from the movie The Secret in Their Eyes got).

so you keep talking about what they deserve, and how people should take justice in their own hand, but you dodging the questions i am asking. You seem to want others to do that for you.

Tell me, would you be the one who will pull the trigger and what do you deserve if you do?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

I belive rpunishment solves absolutely nothing. Ever. Punishing somebody will teach them nothing. People don't change. Specially people who are into torturing infants. It would serve only to satisfy a revenge thirst.

Killing people, however, solves everything. And kill ther loved ones too, just to make sure they don't come after you. Kill their bankers, their lawyers, their pizza delivery guy, and all of their children too. Their neighbours, their neighbours families, and their lawyers and bankers and pizza delivery guys too. Kill everyone who has ever known anyone who has ever known them. 'Till there's no one left but you.

I don't think Justice should be taken into anyone's hands as the wiseman Harvey Dent had said "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

The system should have punished them accordingly, protecting them from the society by giving them new identities and only imprisoning them until 18 is just one of the worst ways to go about that, it's like catching a terrorist that you know is capable of causing damage that may result in deaths of dozens of people, imprison him for 8 years, listen to his sweet pleas of "I am a changed man!" and let him out.. Only to have him plant a bomb that will kill more people.

In this particular case, the system is fucked up, whichever way you spin it, they've lost their human rights when they abused that 2 year old child, and should have been put down like animals they are.

no i dont approve of tracking down people who served their punishments for their crimes.  the sentences were lawful and not outside the of bounds of sanity.   as has been proven by the further charges against the one individual, the law is clearly working in proper order.

when the law is unable or unwilling to serve justice, then individuals should take action.  society deemed those punishments worthy of those crimes....you dont agree with that?  then work and have those punishments changed, dont administer your own version of justice because you dont agree with what society has already decided.

i approve of the death penalty .  my country does not view that as proper punishment.  it is not for me to go out and execute those people who have been found guilty of the crimes.   if i feel strongly enough... i, and other like-minded individuals, can lobby the government to work on having the laws changed ...and we, as a society, can provide that justice.

In no situation in a country with a functioning justice system should justice be taken into the hands of the people.

I've seen enough action movies to know the system doesn't always work.

I've also played enough JRPGs to know vengence can turn into saving the world.

So I say Yes.

I think the question was restricted to this particular case. I know I'd take justice into my own hands, I wouldn't go as far as personally killing the people responsible, but giving them the beating of their lives, either on my lonesome or with a posse. Killing should only be done by the government, unless of course you fancy becoming the villain yourself.

Killing shouldn't even be done by the government in my opinion...

Well the thing is, they're the only ones that can get away with it. Capital punishment should have remained as part of the justice system, for special cases such as this. It's just animals that would do such a thing, especially to a 2 year old child..

No.

The only time it is ever justified to take "justice in your own hands" is self defense.

Even if the law fucks up every once in a while... it's just the penalty of living in a just society.  That sometimes things slip through the cracks.

Also... aren't you supposed to be a pacifist?  Not exactly a pacifists way to suggest vigilante justice.
