I believe that letting Moore go was one fatal mistake from Microsoft's side. The man is fully responsible for where the 360 stands now. He's got the initiative that lead them on their way to succes. His aggressive moves, made MS grab titles from Sony's side makeing them only available on the 360 system or shared with PS3.

Without him, and his advances the department will suffer a loss in 2008.

I remember the 2 years before the PS3 & Wii got released, Microsoft flaunted their games excessively. And this year? Main surprises were Ninja Gaiden 2... and scene it? what the hell?

Or, Microsoft could be keeping the cards close to themselves of course.

But either way, without Peter Moore xbox department will lack direction. I dont think for a moment that Shane Kim will be able substitute the kind of charisma and salesmanship as Moore portraited.

Anyway, I brought this is in for debate, not for a fanboy flame war. Even though I dont expect anything coherent to come out of some members.

 It's rather sad too. He has done so much for Microsoft and seeing the PR making changes worries me. Come on it was Ed Fries, then Peter Moore and they then let go Bungie. Its like if Peter Moore was there none of this stuff would of happened. 

No one can replace Peter Moore.

I don't think this loss will have quite the impact some are imagining. The average consumer buying a console, Xbox or other, isn't exactly hanging on game company press releases to help them determine which to buy. The only consumers hanging on every word of each company's individual PR voice are the individuals who have already bought their favorite console of choice.

If you don't have a good line up of killer titles currently being locked and loaded, there really aren't any bombshells to drop on the gaming public no matter who's in charge.

As for the strategy of keeping development of potential projects that are guaranteed to sell more hardware Secret Squirrel, what kind of business plan is that in an industry that thrives on news of killer apps being spun a year or more in advance?

Don Mattrick is in charge now... Not Shane Kim...  He led EA's World-Wide studios so he is well connected and will pursue the same path as Moore...  I don't see much changing except Don is a quieter guy so he won't be getting any tattoos...
