Yeah yeah and Crisis 2 will be the best looking consol game when it releases until everyone seen the screenshots of the consol versions and they now changed it to best looking multiplat. The engine is very impressive but I wish developers would stop talking shit like this and let the fans label it that on there own. So far all we hear is talk coming from there mouths and little gameplay to back everything they've said up.

Well let's see a game actually released on Cry Engine 3 before we boast too much, aye? Words are meaningless without the game to back it up.

I wonder, who other than Epic with the Unreal Engine is their competitor? It seems to be a pretty narrow statement.

The engine itself? Might be. But from what I've seen from Crysis 2 on consoles, I can't say I'm impressed. Rage looks better.

And I still don't think it will ever match a proprietary engine built specifically for a certain console.

Now, on PC...that's a different story.

well other than Epic their main competition there is Unigine that looks promising but like Cryengine 3 hasn't seen a full game yet though there are several coming soon. There is Valve's Source engine but that is a bit dated now and Source 2.0 is still TBA and will probably launch with Half-Life 3, still it's highly scailable and can still look good. There is id Tech 5 but it's mega texture tech focus may push it into a small niche, that and the fact the game has to be published by Bethesda for a dev to use it. There is Capcom's NT framework but like id 5 and Bethesda is limited to capcom games. Oh and SONY's PhyreEngine but that is only PSP, PS3 and PC and Ubisoft has a few engines that they use for their games.

oh there is also the Vision and Unity engines

So yea they are the other major cross platform game engines that are competing with Cryengine 3 excluding bespoke engines that are specialised for single games or platforms.

Im not saying their engine isnt awesome. But there are quite a fews that look great and dont need NASA to run at full specs.
