Forums - Sales - The DS is selling out

i can't believe how fast the ds sold in japan. its close to the ps2 and will definitely pass the ps2 next year. i wonder how much further it can go beyond that. you can already see sales slowing cuz the ds sales in america and others trounces that of japan, but its still selling very well and being a portable it should be able to keep selling well beyond the ps2's limit. i hope they don't kill it off prematurely like they did with the gba (although i guess the ds was supposed to be the 3rd pillar and not actually kill the gba). i can definitely see in like 3 years japan slowly moving up close to 30 million, usa and others at like 50 million. that'd be insane.

I'm still waiting for the Nintendo TS: Tri-Screen.

the ds is nuts, do you guys think it can outsell the ps2?

It's not a matter of if, but when.

 End of 2009 is my guess. Unless Nintendo announces a new system.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

I still see them in stores. Usually most of the colors are gone, but at lease one color is well stocked. Suprisingly I have seen very few 360s in stores, a few weeks ago they were overloaded with them. Either way good for DS and nintendo. If there is any system out there that should be sold out DS is it, its the best system out there.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I hope Nintendo understands the formula for its success, and comes out with a tri-screen on the next model. Microsoft realizing that the market has shifted to handhelds, will release an xbox 360 portable...it will have 360 separate screens.

Damn, I'm starting to feel left out for not having a DS. I'd get one, but the European price of 160€ is ridiculous compared to the rest of the world. ;___;

I have not seen one in stores for a long time.

Then you havent been to a store for a long time.

 Yeah, I see DS's all the time. The only time I have ever seen a Wii at a store was at launch and the first week of June.

Another banner year for the DS! Though it would be nice if there was enough supply to meet demand. (We're beginning to sound like a broken record when talking about Nintendo consoles here...)

Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

From which country are you? I'm from Belgium and the DS is sold for 135 euros at most places, pretty reasonable to me.
