'kay, so it's  definitely not a terrible game. And it has a massive advertising campaign.

Surely, 1m isn't too ridiculous...

WW yes, could be. Japan only? Sorry but imo it is very ridiculous, I mean, come on, JRPGs generally sell better on the PS3 than on the Wii - and how many JRPGs have sold a million or more on the PS3 in Japan? Let's see.... let's see. 1 (FF13).

Yes, but look at this in a "games that are popular" point of view rather than focusing on its JRPG-ness. When a game sells on Wii, it sells a lot. The Wii is focused on heavy hitters. If this game has the Pokemon, DQ and MH spirit, if only in a much lesser form, it could "catch on" with the Japanese Wii audience and if it does that, 1m is definitely a possibility.

Not sure if I'm getting my point through clearly.

My actual prediction, though, is in the neighbourhood of 400k, but I always like to have an overly-optimistic fanboyish prediction in handy.

Well as long as you know it is overly optimistic . Pokemon/DQ/KH are already long established series. LS is a new IP, so while I undertand what you hope for, I very seriously doubt it.

Yes it is, but not for much.

I think 800k isn't too ridiculous, but also not very realistic.

500k is more likely.

While in the first seconds I also thought WTF, by its end personally I thought it was excellent - it conveyed so well what Gathering is all about. (plus there is a cultural thing here you may be missing - it apparently is using one or more Japanese celebrities, so to them this means even more).

Would be good news if I trusted Famitsu... I'll wait for western reviewers.

I don't know much about Famitsu, but too often they give hyped games great reviews.

So... I don't trust them.
