At 2:17 he states it uses less than 1% of its processor for tracking. I don't know if that is a lot, but it sure doesn't sound like a lot.

If you just aren't interested in Kinect FPS why bother with this thread? You may not like the immersion it may offer, but from the looks of things plenty of other people do. No need to call it a gimmick just cause you do not like it. Some of us like to get up and move around when we play games. Same reason I like wii fps, wich i usually have my arms in the air for. In fact the controls are extremly similar to wii fps, just without the analog stick.

Because we thought this thread would prove us all wrong........it hasnt. i still doesnt prove how you would make up for all the other buttons....even i know kinect can move camera angles and do a couple of actions but the point is theres still not a practical control configuration which commercial fps' can utilise.

every time there is a thread like this, i will check it for curiosity and that small chance someone may have figured something out.

This guy here is a prime example of someone who refuses to admit that he is baffled at how well it works. The move has nowhere near the functionality that you are assuming it has and still requires the same amount of strain by holding your arm up. This is essentially just a camera to provide all aspects of a controller and some people will never admit genius.

Why bring the move up? Do you assume everyone who isn't pro Kinect, is pro move? What about the people who are anti Kinect, and anti Move? Your statements above are why I will take your opinion from hence forth with a grain of salt.

He was talking about the strain that it puts on your body, when equal strain is created by using the move, that is the end of the comparison. Don't read so much into things you might realize that your comment wasn't needed.

Where did he mention the move? Why did you mention the move if he did not? This is a discussion about the kinect, where did the move come in? Why make unneeded comments obviously meant to anger people?

It may have been an assumption on his part, but the problem the person he quoted wasn't about Motion Controls.  It was with a lack of buttons.  Kinect is the only motion control committed to an interface without buttons and a lot of Move proponents (including Sony on more than one occasion) have attacked Kinect because of its lack of buttons.

Kinect discussion (as well as others) on this site has put a lot of us on edge.  I wouldn't hold this against him unless it proves to be a pattern.

Lol, what? It's a tech discussion on a top selling accessory and the potential it has for the FPS genre. There's no real need to be on edge (or to accuse people of trolling the vid or the technique just because they are skeptical for that matter).

Another thread dedicated to someone shoe horning a game onto a interface that it wasn't designed to use from the ground up.  This really proves nothing either way so why all the hate guys.

That was cool, screw people who say kinect can't do core games

Its funny... the Kinect clearly wasn't designed to play the type of games we already enjoy with joysticks. Yet it seems the biggest complaint is it doesn't play games that work well with a joystick.

Kinect was created for experiences like Dance Central and Kinect Sports and its been incredibly successful so far.

I bet that on the other hand he's got a controller to walk around.

I wonder if it works as good as Wii pointer controls, some people say it is better than a mouse (And I agree on that front) and yet there's people claiming the opposite.

Also, this is just the pointer controls. That's about 5% of the total gameplay keys of an FPS. No way you can play an entire FPS with good controls on a kinect. You'll always need a controller.

I think that comes down to differences of opinion and what people are looking for in a pointing device. If they want pure efficiency then I think the Mouse has the Wii pointer beat. However, for immersion and the feeling that you are actually shooting with a gun (including your own shaky inaccuracies) the Wii pointer is great.

how do these make the hackers better than the developers? This game is clearly not a full game. Games take a while to develop and what you have seen are release games. Again give it time. There will be plenty of games around

I say that because we have yet to see anything really come from developers yet.

One can't be better than the other right now if the other has nothing to show.

What a ridiculous thing to say .... I highly imagin developers are achieiving similar success on the Kinect. Just because you havn't seen it doesn't mean they're lagging. We have no clue either way.

How come that I can pull of a headshot better with Wii pointer controls over mouse then?

This in games like Conduit or GoldenEye where the controls are really smooth. CoD Wii sucks controlwise, sorry for the offtopic.
