Forums - Sales - New Zealand Sony Hardware Sales (GfK).

somehow I doubt PS3 is outselling DS in NZ. Even the most diehard Sony fanboy countries in Europe have the DS at or near the top. I expect some serious spinning is going on here.

Its true , like it or not , just like the Genesis dominated back in the days in Brazil :P

Wow. I'm impressed to anything outsell the DS.

With other daya given we can work out some rough figures for the others.

PS2 accounted for 67% of all console sales = Total console sales of 21,760.

21,760 - PS2 - PS3 = 1,495 360+WII (Microsoft says the GFK research do not cover sales of its Xbox 360 Arcade System that was offered exclusively at The Warehouse, they don't give any figures, though.

He says PSP & PS3 were top selling consoles in their category, but doesn't claim the "playstation family" took the top three spots as he did in November. This would suggest to me that DS finished above PS3, but below PSP.

My very rough guestimated December chart:

1) PlayStation 2: 14,580
2) PlayStation Portable: 9,345
3) Nintendo DS: ???
4) PlayStation 3: 5,685 units
*) Xbox 360: <1,495
*) Nintendo Wii: <1,495

NZ is one of those small markets that only the big companies really push. SCE in particular has been there awhile since PS1/PS2 were so successful, but Nintendo's never really had much of a presence except in the biggest markets.

Sorry, only this one:

2005 (End)

Gamecube - 10,000

I don't think they have a NZ subsidiary, so we only really get Australian Nintendo figures. Sometimes it's possible to work out DS figures from PSP market share, but it's not really possible to do that for Wii because there's 360 to consider too.

I tired emailing SoftPrint Interactive (SPI) for figures on the Nintendo Wii and DS but they did not have authority to release such figure so...... Australia Nintendo is our only hope.

Your best bet is if Nintendo release Australia+New Zealand combined sales, and they also specify Australian sales, or we have Australian sales for the same date we can compare. They're probably quite low, so Nintendo are unlikely to intentionally release the data.

Does anyone actually have a link to GfK's website?
