Yes yes, definitely. After how good BF:V was I can't believe that other people haven't gone there. It's damn frustrating, but I dunno. Maybe some of those flag wavers here in the US don't like the thought of playing towards a losing effort? I love my country, but I don't only want to hear about the times we won.
As an aside, I think the modern combat idea is just as old as the WW2 thing, as that sorta thing has been going on for years. SOCOM, Battlefield 2, COD4, America's Army, it's all been done before. I'd be far more interested in playing shooters about the more obscure wars. People are plenty violent, it's not like there weren't tons to choose from during the last century. The whole "Middle-East Faction" + Russia vs. USA + Europe is done. If COD6 goes back to modern stuff again, what makes people think it won't be any more stale than COD5 going back to WW2?

A WW2 game where you play as a German wouldn't even have to be that controversial you know. There were millions of soldiers in the various armed forces of Nazi Germany, and most of them were regular guys caught up in the wheels of an oppressive regime, trying to survive.
Unfortunately nobody has the balls to make such a game due to ZOMG NAZI!!!11

I don't get all the hate for the WW2 setting. Modern-day combat is just as overdone as WW2 combat.

Personally, I prefer the lower tech of WW2 combat. Popping somebody's head off with an unscoped rifle is more satisfying than throwing a barrage of low-accuracy bullets from a fully-automatic assault weapon in between lobbing underbarrel grenades. I just don't enjoy games which feel like aiming is optional.

Im getting COD4 for christmas. ive only played cod 4 on xbox 360 at my mates house and it was multiplayer.. soo ill get back to you

Shit, I'd buy whatever system it was on just to play it.
Though it would only be appropriate than such an old war would be on an "old" console, so this clearly needs to be a Wii game.
