I don't get all the hate for the WW2 setting. Modern-day combat is just as overdone as WW2 combat.

Personally, I prefer the lower tech of WW2 combat. Popping somebody's head off with an unscoped rifle is more satisfying than throwing a barrage of low-accuracy bullets from a fully-automatic assault weapon in between lobbing underbarrel grenades. I just don't enjoy games which feel like aiming is optional.
