Forums - Sony - It's a Good Sign There are no DC Universe Reviews up on Metacritic

or Game Rankings (no room left in the title).

Regardless of whether the game reviews well or not, it appears reviewers are actually spending a bit of time playing the MMO in order to be able to review it in sufficient depth. I hope it works out for DCU online. I'm not a monthly subscription for online play sort of person, so this game isn't on my radar. But I like my superhero pulp fiction, and there are too many lame superhero games (are there any that aren't lame other than Arkham Assylum?). So I want this one to review well, and sell well, purely because superheros deserve better from the video game industry.

though there was a beta.... you'd think the review could be 90% written already (for the PS3 version at least)

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Agreed.  There is no sensible way to review an MMO early.  If you buy in early you've got to accept you're trailblazing in the dark.  I would want impressions going up after a week with a review to follow, assuming almost daily, solid play by the reviewer to get fairly far past the initial tutorial stage and more into the meat of the game.

Early impressions should focus on gameplay mechanics, etc. while the review would give a fuller view of the experience/content level offered.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I believe IGN will be doing an evolving review which won't give a score initially, seeing as you can't really rate an MMO on the first week of playing no matter how much time you put in. Good idea tbh.

From what I've heard it's a pretty decent game though, no one's saying it's the best thing ever but certainly heard more positive then negative.

That was intentional, right?

updated: 14.01.2012

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Reviewers taking time to review games is always good news, was it GT5 that was rushly reviewed in a period of 2-3 days? I think that one must finish the single player experience or if the game extensive at least attain 15-20 hours before putting up a comprehensive review. I personally have qualls wih this one due to the $15 monthly subscription, not sure if the content will justify the price tag. Can't comment on the sustainability without experiencing the game though!

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Anyone playing it able to give a feedback or first impressions at the moment ?

It seems to be getting a lot of good user scores from different websites.

So I'm expecting good scores from publications as well.
