What a strange video, the message (which I have zero inclination to get on board with) is about as subtle as a brick though...
Still, fairly well put together. It won't last long though. Copyright infringement and all that jazz...

Nintendo: a boring story (lame stuff!!)
The film was well made. I don't agree with its message at all, but this is made by 1 guy in his spare time, come on!
| Conegamer said: Woah woah now, I think you may be over-reacting just a little bit. I agree the message is now redundant. They should have made this back in 2008 when Wii Music was shown, or, even better, during the days of the late GC, where the only new Mario game was the poor, kiddy Super Mario Sunshine, Wind waker was released, and many had doubts that Twilight Princess would ever be released. This gen we've had 2 3D mario games, Mario Kart, 2D mario, Mario Party, 2 Mario Sports games (with another to come), all highly critically acclaimed. Hardly poor when you think about it! Then there's Metroid, Zelda, Donkey Kong...but I won't get into that However, criticising the video for what it is isn't truly fair. Is it outdated? Yes. Is it cliched? Perhaps. And the message is most certainly wrong. However, I personally felt that, like many others here, the video was atmospheric and was of good quality for a one-man team. You can't expect the big-budget cinema from 7 minutes of a you-tube clip made by one man. If you forget about the message it's trying to bring out, then you could quite easily say that it was scary to see Mario in this dystopian light. More than anything, I think the key thing is to calm down. We'll never know when this was made. We'll never know if it's supposed to be a joke, or an ironic treatment of Nintendo's IPs being over-used (hence why Mario looks old and battered? Who knows...), because there's no description. The maker could be the biggest Nintendo fan ever, and is trying to release this video to produce the reaction of mine and yours. Yes, the message is wrong, outdated, but there's no denying that it provoked a reaction. Perhaps that's the most important thing |
Sorry if I came off as snapping or something haha it was my brutally honest opinion of the video, I've seen one man teams do a lot more... with a lot more creativity... I really didn't feel the moody bit some people seem to have unless you count the Silent Hill music... but like I said the best part of the video was the music and he didn't make that, honestly I get better moodiness from just popping in my Silent Hill sound track lol
Destructoid posted a news article the video for whatever reason and it's gotten a lot of hits since then. I don't really see a point behind it other than a redundant message, I wouldn't want to be remembered for that haha

I actually liked the video...it did make me remember how much Nintendo changed this Gen compared to past Gens. The Wii also changed games permanently it seems now with Move and Kinect...
I like the new Nintendo better though and games as a whole are also better in my opinion...though the video made me remember that if Wii never came out we would probably of had a Pikmin 3 by now...
You know what strike what I said, in fact strike what most people have said, this is a joke video made by a joke account on You Tube, hell Doobie Wop even posted the joke journal picture, if you look into it the account is petermolyneux2 which has a twitter by the same name, it also leads back to the album doobie's picture is from which has a lot of joke pitches for games from "Peter" and Lionhead to publishers like EA.
It's a guy claiming to be Peter to make fun of him, then he's posting a video that some crazy "employee" at Lionhead made.
So this explains the bad animation, the redundant message, and the music just ripped from other sources. This also throws a big HA to everyone that thought this video had some serious message or was "scary" as it wasn't meant to be, it was meant to be some guy posing as Peter on the net making fun of him and Lionhead Studios.
