My interpretation of the video's meaning is that by branching out to include the expanded market, Shigeru Miyamoto and Reggie Fils-Aime are condemning the Mario series (or perhaps core gamers) to a meagre (subservient) existence on the Wii.

That's also my interpretation.
But whether you agree with the message in the video or not shouldn't take anything away from the fact that it's a great short video.

I can't help but be reminded of There will Brawl and others that seemed to be praised for gritty, malicious Nintendo for the sake of it. Like Happy Squirrel, this pretty much demonized Nintendo simply because it's preceived that Nintendo(Shigeru Miyamoto and Reggie Fils-Aime) lost a bit of itself/roots for the sake of the expanded market. I just a bit upset when these potraits are done poorly and are praised for the grit more than anything else.
Pixel Art can be fun.
This video was beyond ridiculous.
The "Dark Days" for teh hardcorez were the Gamecube days. "Kiddy Mario" and "Kiddy Zelda". This Gen we got 3 amazing epic Mario games, with one of them being a true 2D Mario, and we got teh maturez Zelda. Give Nintendo a break.
